Review summary

Fantastic Trip. Three weeks earlier in the summer (late August early Sep) would have been even better, but we still had a fantastic time. The ship was filled with helpful and friendly staff, great food, and a wide variety of activities. But visiting the Canadian provinces was the best part of a relaxing and spectacular journey. Oh, and brush up on your French to really enjoy the last two stops.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Exceptional food especially at the specialty restaurants. While the Buffet was perfectly acceptable standard fare, it was a buffet--enough said. But the specialty restaurants and included dining room options were great. Best food/experience was at Le Bistro (specialty) where we had exceptional service and food. Cagney's (specialty) prepared a filet mignon perfectly and pared with very tasty (but small) sides made for a great meal--we actually created a surf and turf a la carte style by ordering the grilled (not so) jumbo shrimp. The Japanese Teppanyaki (specialty) grill was fun as these always are, but nothing that you would not have gotten at your local Beni Hana's. As for the included dining we found Aqua to be a better place than Venetian, but most enjoyed the Bamboo Asian which sounded like a specialty restaurant but was open to all--but it's small so you nee to make reservations.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Loved the fitness center (Total Body Conditioning Class with Lewis was a great way to start the day) it was never crowded.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows in the main theater were fun if a bit amateurish--but hey, they were free. And the cast certainly went all out in trying to entertain.

Cabin / Stateroom

Incredible cabin which we came into as a result of the upgrade auction process that Norwegian runs--definitely worth the added expense (I bid $300 per person, $600 per cabin for the upgrade). That was several thousand less than the direct purchase price and gave us a cabin nearly three times the size we had paid for, plus a butler, plus cabin served hors de ourves every evening, plus upgraded breakfast in private dining, plus first on first off privileges. definable worth it.

Quebec City port was not ready for the number of ships that arrived that day. No fault of the cruise line, but it took way too long

Hike up the Bec-Scie (worth the trip but make sure you have a car or cab arranged) La Baie Harbor Upgraded Cabin Sunset in La Brie Ship and Mermaid Tall Ship Cruise in Halifax Harbor (purchased on shore for half the ship excursion price) Sushi at the Bamboo Asian Napoleon at Le Bistro
