Review summary

This was a special anniversary for us. I advised our travel agent. Yet, Nothing. Later, I was told NCL celebrates with cake. We don't eat cake and like the idea of a complimentary photo. We never felt special.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was average. Could have gone faster.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Loved Tappenyaki Japanese and Los Lobos Mexican. Had bad luck in Cagneys. Sent one lamb chop back. By the time it came back, we were leaving the Restaurant. Both Aqua and Venetian complimentary restaurants were excellent. Buffet was so so. Too hard to reach food in 2nd row, behind glass. Omelet line was mixed in with regular buffet line. Ice cream machine was broken a lot and so was the coffee machine.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Most ships have 24 hour libraries. If you miss the check out window, you can't get a book. BINGO was the biggest disappointment. $69 for 3 games. Most ships play 5. Big jackpot goes on every other ship. NCL keeps it. No big payout on final day. Loved the spa area. Enjoyed relaxing there all day everyday. Jacuzzi, swimming pool. Heated relaxing beds. Glorious. Highlight of the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Magic shows were good. Entertainment ok, nothing special.

Children's Programs

We didn't bring children

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Our steward was the laziest I've ever seen. I've been on 102 cruises. Yes. 102! I got help 2 or 3 times from Steward Alex a few doors down. Didn't feel service was what it should have been in any service area.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was very easy to get around. Clean, nice. Well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was nice. Bathroom decent size. Very small tv.

Ship tip

To correct the wording of above question asked!!!!!! If you love to read, like we do, bring your own books. Library is open for 2 hours, twice daily. Times didn't work well for us.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

5 out of 5
We did our own visiting of Boston. Loved the Freedom Trail. Faneuil Hall. Quincy Market. Took a drive to sightsee Newport Rhode Island, an hour away.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5
Beautiful. Went to see America's Cup.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We did walk off. Could have been better organized.

I am sorry you were disappointed. On our cruise 4/23-5/4 we celebrated our sons Highschool graduation and our 24th wedding anniversary. We ordered the basic celebration packages for each (I think they were $35 each?) paper garland and balloons for each as well as a decorated cake. Our room Steward also made two swans with some rose petals strewn as well! We were absolutely spoiled!

My husband and I celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary last year on the Dawn. We had an amazing dinner at Cagnies, the waiter sang to us and brought us a yummy cake to share...we brought it out on the deck and shared a wonderful quite evening under the stars enjoying our dessert. It is all on what you make of it. We didn't need/expect to be specially treated. We had each other and the beautiful island of Bermuda!

The ship supplies birthday cakes.

www.ncl.com/onboard-packages/romance-packages The Anniversary package costs $179 Your travel agent should have told you about it so you could have selected that extra option when booking.

ncl sells you an "anniversary package" on their website. For extra money. I imagine hundreds aboard are celebrating anniversaries, weddings, engagements, birthdays, etc etc. I would hope the staff makes every passanger feel special, not just a few.
