Review summary

This was our first cruise on NCL. Have cruised Carnival, Holland, RCL and now NCL. We loved the relaxed atmosphere and the 24 hour Blue Lagoon. We're morning people so loved having breakfast in our room, an afternoon snack and maybe fish and chips at the Blue Lagoon. The staff was always very friendly. We will definately sail NCL again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We liked the variety and the time flexibility.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved the music in the Star "martini" bar and the Bistro lounge. Rarely have time to relax at home so would watch a DVD in the room at night.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Trully exceptional staff. We wanted to bring our butler home.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and easy to get around on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our penthouse suite was not as large as we have had on RCL but was laid out beautifully. Plenty of storage, loved having a table and the espresso machine was marvelous. Only complaint was the most miserable pillows we've ever experienced anywhere!

Ports of call

St. John's, Antigua

3 out of 5
Did the Stingray Snorkel. The water was to be low enough that even non swimmers could enjoy it. Apparently the tide was in so the water was very high - about 6 feet at most places. This made it difficult for the children and non-swimmers.

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
The best variety of fish I've every seen when snorkeling in crystal clear water.
Don't Miss: St. Kitts Sail and Snorkel

Bridgetown, Barbados

3 out of 5
With the brand new no smoking in public law choose not to take an excursion. The terminal shopping was fun but there are no fans or air conditioning. Would pass on this port.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

3 out of 5
Enjoyed the "Best of Tortola". We aren't big beach people and found spending $10 each for a chair and umbrella to be ridiculus so found a shady step.
Don't Miss: The terror of a drive across the island on the narrow, steep roads!

Pros: The "freestyle' atmosphere

Cons: The most miserable pillows every created

Recommends Norwegian Dawn? Yes!
