Review summary

The Norwegian Dawn is a wonderful ship. This was our first cruise and we had such a wonderful experience that we are already planning another cruise for next year. The itinerary provided three wonderful days at sea (plenty of time to relax and unwind) and three wonderful ports of call - Bermuda, Great Stirrup Cay, and Nassau. Great ship, great staff, great itinerary - the perfect cruise :)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had heard mixed reviews of "cruise cuisine"...but we love freestyle cruising. The freedom to eat early or late, not being forced to sit at a large table with people you don't know, the variety of dining options. The Garden Cafe was the best - classic entrees, great salad bar, the "New York" buffet, so many options. The traditional dining rooms - Venetian, Aqua, and Impressions - provided excellant service with a more traditional cruise style dining room. The specialty restaurants offered additional dining options depending on your mood. And the 24 hour Blue Lagoon and room service. What else could you ask for?

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We were pleasantly surprised by the caliber of entertainment - an improv show by Second City, a great magician/illusionist, an action comedian, a exciting "Bollywood" show, numerous entertaining game shows and lounge acts. The cruise director was very entertaining and his staff provided a continuous schedule of a variety of events. There was always something to do - if you wanted to.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff member that we encountered on our seven day cruise was absolutely wonderful. From the friendly dining room staff to the attentive stateroom staff to the witty bartenders. The waiters were constantly visible to order bar service but were not pushy or bothersome in any way. It was nice to kow that someone was always there to answer a question or provide a service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Dawn is a large ship. It takes a day or so to really know your way around. But a large ships offers more amenities - 10 restaurants, numerous bars/lounges, great shows/entertainment. And the staff provided personal service, despite the number of passengers on board.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an ocean view stateroom. It was the perfect size for two. Really nice to have a window to get some sunlight and a great view of the ocean/ports. Next time we may upgrade to a balcony stateroom - but the oceanview was perfect for us! Excellant staff service - the stateroom was kept tidy during the day and cozy at night - we even had some surprise guests (a dog one night, a rabbit a few nights later). The staff really makes every effort to meet your every need and make you feel right at home.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The Atlantis was unbelievable - what a spectacular aquarium, entertaining casino, beautiful architecture. Both Nassau and Paradise Island are absolutely beautiful. We didn't visit Cable Beach (maybe next time) but we thoroughly enjoyed our time at this port.
Don't Miss: You have to see the Atlantis - it's more than just a casino!

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
In one word - Beautiful. The wonderful history, the beautiful beaches, the friendly people, and the plentiful shopping.
Don't Miss: Horseshoe Bay - don't miss this beach!

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

5 out of 5
Beautiful beach - the most simple port of call but quite possibly the best! What could be better than being dropped off at a beautiful beach to enjoy the sand and surf for the day?
Don't Miss: Snorkeling - save some $$ by bringing your own snorkel gear.

Pros: Plenty of good food, great entertainment, variety of ports!

Cons: First time cruising - had to get used to the ship/ocean.
