Review summary

I will never cruise with NCL again, they treat you like garbage when you become sick! They lock you away and never check in with housekeeping or food, they say you can order what you want and watch any of their in-room movies, but they didn’t tell me that I had to fight for everything!!! I had to fight for a Diet Coke, for them to reverse the movie charges in the room, not to mention that I lost my money on all the upgrades that I paid for, they would not refund the priority boarding, restaurants, unlimited alcohol package, etc. plus, I had to pay them $3,000 for the medical care. Never again, I am booked on Celebrity next month, no more NCL!!!

Once I was quarantined, the food was terrible! They would not allow me to order from restaurants that I had reservations, and the menus they provided did not match the food that was delivered!!! If you eat at one of the restaurants versus the room service menus, they did not match! I was only allowed to order food from a limited menu depending on the day and the food was crap!!! They literally argued with me every single order when I asked for a Diet Coke even though I had the unlimited drink package and NEVER did I order liquor, just a Diet Coke and they refused to deliver one!!!

First, always have travel insurance when you cruise and second, don’t go to the medical clinic on a cruise ship unless you feel it’s an absolute emergency. I always bring a large ziplock bag with every over the counter medication I could possibly need to avoid either going to medical or paying exorbitant prices on the ship. I rarely have to use any of it but it’s nice to have.

This is a great example of why having travel/cruise insurance is so important, good measure to read the fine print. Unfortunately, getting sick while on any vacation, land or cruise is insanely expensive. As far as quarantine, that’s the standard most every cruise line. Sorry to hear about your experience & hope your next was much better. Happy cruising 🤩⚓️😎❣️‼️

When did you get COVID.? Maybe you had it getting on the ship. Some of what you said doesn’t sound right. What kind of upgrades did you have ? Did you go to specialty restaurants, have a drink package, etc. Don’t know what you would have to pay extra for besides that.

Sorry this was such a disaster. Sounds awful. It is interesting that when they quarantine someone they offer free pay-per-view movies. I did not know that.

Please do know, you will be handled almost exactly the same on any of the mainline cruise operators. Stay away from the clinic wherever possible. The ramifications can be significant, from quarantine to exorbitant costs. I always bring a mini medical kit for injury and symptoms.
