We wanted to like NCL this was our 12th cruise and we were excited to try it however it did not pan out as planned the ship is so packed it’s actually stressful. They have lots to do daily but you can’t do anything, seriously, it’s hard to even find a seat on this ship everything is about standing in line.
Embarkation

Uneventful
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Smallest portion i have ever seen but no complaints about the food. All good stuff
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The one pool on the ship was so packed to the point I wouldn’t go in for sanitary reasons alone.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Burn the floor was great but that’s the only show they have! There is other entertainment options but people start lining up 2hrs before the start.
Children's Programs
Cause we didn’t have children with us
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Dining room staff was mostly awesome in a restaurants the bartenders, however, are so overworked and abused by the overcrowded ship that they are absolutely miserable.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
The ship was actually very clean however with 4600 passengers it feels like the ship is built for 3300! constant lines, crowded halls, bathrooms you can’t get into, bars if opened were 3 rows deep at every venue just to overly packed to enjoy.
Cabin / Stateroom

Our room was clean however the room attendant was part time, he wouldn’t even empty the trash. We would have to place dirty dishes on the floor. The toilets are also part time on the ship, sometimes they would flush but mostly they would not deck 11 had maintenance guys on it for days. At one point the entire floor stopped flushing.
After Norwegian cruise lines canceled Tortola this was a stop we were most excited about however they changed the times and we were only there from like one to five so we barely had time to even get to a beach and spend an hour another disappointment from NCL.!
Another big fat disappointment by NCL. They canceled this and sent us Nassau. All the excursions were over booked. I ended up taking My Wife and Son to Margarita Beach resort to the tune of $430 so that we could spend a few hours on the beach.
Last year, we traveled on Royal over Memorial Day weekend, and the ship was packed and uncomfortable. Sounds like you had the same experience this year. We learned two things after our cruise.
1. All cruiseines count cabins sold, not the number of guests. So the ship can easily be over 100% full.
2. We no long sail on holiday weekends, especially in the carribbean.
I think this is a cruise industry issue, not just one cruise line.
