The ports were great, but the ship itself left a lot to be desired. We will likely not do Norwegian again.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Checking in felt chaotic at the port but it was efficient enough. Getting onto the ship was easy enough, but we had to wait over an hour sitting on the stairs until our stateroom was actually ready for us.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The buffet was great for a buffet and the staff there were good! The main dining rooms were beautiful and felt special, but the food left A LOT to be desired. There was nothing that we ate in the dining room that stood out as really good food.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
The only activity we really took part in was the pool, which was entirely too small for such a large crowd on the ship. We went there one time and then didn't go back.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We saw three performances in the main theater, Levity Comedy, Burn the Floor, and The SIX. All three of these shows were spectactular! We were not able to enjoy the other musicians or shows that were in other venues, as they did not take reservations the the venues were too small. We got in line for one of the shows, an entire hour before the show, and did not get into the venue because it was full as soon as they opened the doors.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Service was adequate but not stand out service at all.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was maintained very cleanly. However, the layout was illogical and not easy to get around. Everything felt entirely too small for such a large ship. The casino runs very narrow throughout the middle of the ship and you're almost forced to squeeze through it to get from one end to the other.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was lovely and had plenty of room, including storage. The bathroom was much bigger than other cabin bathrooms we've been in. The bathroom also had a lot of shelves and room to store things.
The MAJOR frustration (and the reason we aren't giving 5 stars) is that our toilet did not flush most of the time. We had to call maintenance about it 5 out of the 7 days on board. The only thing we were told was that it is slated to be fixed during drydock, which wasn't helpful information for us during this cruise. If there is a known problem, it should be fixed before you put people in that space.
Ship tip
Choose a different ship or a different cruise line.
There wasn't a ton to see directly out of the port area. We did enjoy a little bit, but to get to more exciting things would have been a $40 round trip taxi cab for a 3 mile ride. The brochure in the ship said the cab would be $8 but that was not current pricing.
The port area was nice but VERY touristy. Getting out into the real part was not accessible. The port area was nice but very, very crowded with two full ships docked there together.
This was a beautiful private island day! The beach area was absolutely beautiful and the pool was beyond beautiful! I don't understand why, since it is Norwegian's island, our food and drink were not included. But visiting the beach and pool were amazing and so relaxing!
We did the Beach Escape excursion at this port and it was really fun! The pool area is super small, but it did have a swim up bar and all the drinks were included in the excursion. It was a lovely day and lots of options to shop local products. We also got a 40-minute massage on the beach for $20!
