Review summary

The whole cruise was so upsetting and I wanted to go home. Despite checking in online, I had to queue again when I got there to 'check in', I mean what the hell! Badly organised. We couldn't go in the cabin as it wasn't ready, again badly organised. Straight away I noticed a theme on the menus, which was a massive lack of vegetarian options. I spoke to someone there and organised a meal for the next day, a pizza - will come back to that later. Went in my cabin noticed a smell like musky smell that made me feel sick, it was small as expected but very dated and dirty. The floor was clearly not vacuumed. The bed sheets did not look clean, I could have cried. Everything involved a huge queue, which became very tiresome. Nearly 2000 kids made the ship nosy and horrible to be around and it was so busy it was hard to get seated anywhere. The whole ship needs a refit, it's dirty, dated and all the seats are falling apart. The excursions were badly organised and overpriced. My Mum didn't even like the food and she is not a vegetarian, back to the pizza that I was getting. It came out with no cheese and salami on. I mean I laughed because it was such a joke, especially when I said to the guy it was salami and he said it was a tomato, the waiter came over and agreed it was salami. Service was really slow in the restaurants. The big thing as well is I registered to pay cash on the bill knowing I had the drinks package and probably wouldn't spend at all, they kept stopping my card so I couldn't use the drinks package, I would get letters regularly to my cabin and also the server would keep saying my card had been stopped, which then involved loads of queuing at guest services and a lot of embarrassment. I had to pay $20 to stop this and even then I kept getting letters, on the last day after I had the pleasure of queuing for my money back they stopped it again. They also emptied the single lounge so you couldn't get drinks on the last day. Lastly, the room is either too hot or cold, the adjustable temperature control is useless and my Mum had cold air blowing over her bed in her balcony cabin and they couldn't do a thing about it. POOR. I have never been on such a poor cruise in my life, I am shocked how bad it was and will never go with them again.

Like you my expectations didn't prove true. I was prepared to really dislike cruising. Telling myself I only agreed because my husband wanted to do it. I get seasick. Don't care for small spaces we are foodies and there was just no way they could cook for thousands and turn out good food...the list went on and on. What I didn't expect was the amazing time we actually had! The food was excellent, Staff were superior and beautifully trained. The ship's stabilizers kept the sailing smooth as glass. Our excursions were a blast. I am now a dedicated NCL fan. We leave in 51 days for a Mediterranean cruise. If you decide to try again, may I suggest having an open mind and willingness to enjoy the cruise? Sometimes learning to roll with challenges is a necessity to enjoyment in a new adventure.

Compared to the majority of the reviews we read on this platform, unfortunately your experience was very different. Sorry to hear.

It is not easy at times and I'm sorry you had bad moments.

Cruising or anything else may not be for you

I was on the March 5th cruise. Everything about the cruise was five out of five, except for the muster but that was manageable. A wonderful time.

Sorry you were so disappointed. Vegetarians tend to have fewer choices as cruise ships gear menus for the majority of passengers. Spring Break seems to start the first of March now, so the number of children is not a surprise. If you decide to cruise again, I hope it’s better.

Wow...... I'm on there now and so far my experience had been the complete opposite! Everything has been great from check in to the room to meals and service. Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience.

Maybe cruising isn't for you. Rooms are never ready as soon as you board..we walk around and check the ship out. We use Carnival and never have had a bad experience. Good luck.

Rooms generally are not ready when you first board the ship. No big deal.

Not sure about all your other complaints but in the 11 cruise I have taken , I don’t ever remember my room being ready when I boarded the ship.

Sounds like Cruising is not for you. Many of the things you mentioned, such as having to stand in line for checking in, are common on all cruise lines. Cruising during spring break is never a good idea.
