Review summary

We used Amtrak to get to New York which was much better than driving especially getting home. Comfortable ride. Ship was very clean and food was good. Getting old so was better able to control portions at the buffet -- specialty restaurants very generous with portions. Moderna has exceptional salad bar and would return just for it and the grilled pineapple as desert.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Burn the Floor was exceptional. George Michael a very good comedian and kept it clean. Courtney was a fabulous singer and enjoyed her presentations

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff friendly and personable. Enjoyed meeting Luca and Agea from the Dolce shop and sharing train experiences in our countries. Our room steward Sharon was always smiling although a long day and our room was always spotless and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

Bed was comfortable and great having a balcony. Brought our own alarm clock and frustrated it had to be reset every time electricity was turned off -- obvious result but irritating.

Ship tip

Be prepared for poor internet and no support for Comcast customers. What use is over 300 points if internet not available, and when it was it was painfully slow even using the NCL free access to it website to check future cruises.

Ports of call

Newport, Rhode Island

It was rainy and got in late to book a mansion tour.

Portland, Maine

4 out of 5
Port area okay for walking and checking wharf based restaurants. Off the ship booked a tour from a pier side vendor which increased my appreciation for Portland itself and had a nice visit to a nearby Lighthouse and park

Bar Harbor, Maine

Very foggy and glad had not purchased a tour to Acadia National Park. Big shopping town and found a Peru wool products store on a side street with many imported items.

Saint John, New Brunswick

3 out of 5
For some reason cannot remember this stop

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Always enjoy stopping here and walking the boardwalk. Used Tim Horton's coffee shop to warm up as a cold wind that day. Then booked a tour out to Peggy's Cover which was more interesting for the walk to the lighthouse across glacier scoured rock than the village itself.

Disembarkation

Very Very smooth and fascinated Border Security used facial recognition rather than passports to gain entry.
