Review summary

Ports and ship was somewhat disappointing. Will not recommend this ship. Many other NCL ships are much better. Cruise director kind of missing in action. Not much to do on-board.

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
There is three main dinning rooms, Manhattan, Savory, Taste. The largest the Manhattan room lacked atmosphere and servers was not very atenative. Out of the 20 plus cruises we have been on it ranks near the bottom. Savory and Taste had better atmosphere and service. The menu for all three are the same each day and the way most dishes was cooked was disappointing. The food in the garden cafe buffe was among the better we have had on cruise ship. There was great variety of food every day for lunch and dinner and most of it was good. Breakfast was basically the same every day, but also had great selection and with some international flair. The complimentary specialty restaurants we tried was all good. We usually do not go to restaurants aboard that you have to pay for, but was given free choice of one with dinner for two so we selected Cagney's steak house and ate there one night. They served one of the best steaks I ever have had.

Onboard Activities

Many of listed venues was not open on this cruise.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Giving this three stars only because the two stage shows Six and Burn the Floor was very good. The rest of the venues which was not that many was either small, way to loud for the area they were performed, or the performers were not very good.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
First the good. Ship was very clean and well maintained and the decore for the most part was also nice. The bad, many venues such a lounges with entertainment was small and not very good laid out. Suspect a lot of the floor space for this was reduced to accommodate the very many specialty restaurants on-board. In my opinion the ship has 10 to 15% to high passager capacity to what it can confortable accommodate when full.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
One of the worst cabines we have had on any cruise when it comes to the main cabin space and layout. The storage spaces and cabin layout on this ship has been redesigned by some genius from the well designed and efficient space utilization you have been accustomed to on other NCL ships to something that gives you less organized storage space. We had a inside cabin, but was traveling with others that had outside cabins and the design was the same. No chairs in the room and hardly something you could call a desk. The bathroom was fine.

Ship tip

Staff and crew are as good as on any other NCL ship. The problem is with the design of the ship and corporate exploitation of revenue.
