Staff was overwhelmed. Ship has 22 bars but on 2-3 were open at any time & poorly staffed. The $200 onboard credit was not used for all onboard charges so the $226 bill was unexpected. Diner & show reservations were not honored.
Norwegian Breakaway Cruise Review to Caribbean - Eastern
Ship touts 22 bars but only 2-3 were open at any time & way understaffed. Dining & show reservations were not honored. After standing in long lines to get the reservations, guests were allowed in without reservations & filled the tables & show seats so those of us with reservations were turned us away or given a 45-minute wait. There were long lines for everything (bar service, reservations, getting on & off the ship in ports, etc.) and too few staff to process/assist. The pool & pool deck was way too small. The onboard $200 credit was not honored & we received a surprise bill of $266.
Embarkation

Lines moved well with plenty of staff checking in guests.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Specialty reservations were a pain to get with long lines. Main dining room reservations were not honored & we were told to come back in 45 minutes. What a crock. Why even make a reservation if it will not be honored. People just walked in without them.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The pool & pool deck was so small you could not get in or find a chair. We did enjoy the water slides. Wish the mini-golf had not been removed. Tried the ropes course but it was too difficult. Fitness center was too small and unclean.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The comedians were good. The singers and band in Syd's lounge were really good. The big shows were okay.
Children's Programs
Don't have kids.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our room steward was wonderful! The waiters in the French and Italian restaurants were great. Main dining was slow and the staff seemed overwhelmed.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Ship was clean but did not like the layout. Pool was too small. Ceilings were too low. There was no central atrium or pretty area with a bar and entertainment.
Cabin / Stateroom

Really like the size of the room and bathroom especially. There was plenty of storage space and floor space to move around. The hallways were really narrow and trying to find our family's interior room was a challenge as the access point was on the other side of the ship. We thought they would be just across the hall but no, we had to go to the other side of the ship for their interior hall access.
Ship tip
Rebook on another ship. Pack your patience as the staff is completely overwhelmed. Don't count on the onboard credit as they took that back at the end of the cruise and we had a $226 unexpected bill. Credit could not be used for gratuities.
Pleasantly surprised with DR. We had researched & took a taxi to an all inclusive beach resort The Senator. Great food, drinks & service. Exactly what we were missing on the ship!!
Took a car to the beach that was way over crouded since it was the beach the cruiseline used for the beach break excursion. We did not say long. Shopping in Charlotte Amalie at Ajunta Jewlers was fabulous as always. I can't go to St. Thomas without picking up a lovely little something from Mark and his team at Ajunta. Beatiful jewelry at wonderful prices!
Fortunately, the tender reservation I received as a Gold member was honored for 9:30 a.m. & we were able to find chairs & rent an umbrella. By 11 a.m. the beach was packed with people. The 2 bars were poorly staffed. Lunch was a nightmare with again long lines & poor direction from staff. We left right after lunch to beat the rush back to the ship & caught a tender just before it departed. Need more bars & better guest flow for lunch service.
The line of guests to get off went from one end of the ship to the other. When we finally got to the front of the line there was only 1 facial scanner being so this too way longer than it should.
