This is our third cruise on a major line. We were pleased with the accommodations, the staff and the setting. The food and pool were disappointing. One thing I neglected to do was check out the excursions on a site like Trip Review before boarding. I'd definitely advise future travelers to do so.
Embarkation

Once we got past the COVID test and out of the Port terminal, it was fine. But at port, the waiting room was crowded and all but two toilets plugged.

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Unfortunately, many of the meals were disappointing, including in the specialty restaurants. The lobster in Ocean Blue was tasteless and the texture crumbly. When I was asked about the meal, I was politely honest and the response was professional and concerned. The chef came to talk to us and ultimately we were offered a refund of the upcharge. Also, prior to dining, we were made aware that we could dine only if we met a certain dress code. Since my husband did not have closed-toe shoes, we were told we could dine with them only if we sat outside. However, on arrival we were offered a seat anywhere. We did opt to sit outside where we found a party in torn jeans, oversized T-shirts and well worn gym shoes. On another note, it was odd to dine outside at a nice restaurant (Cagneys) as people walked or jogged laps.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We like to swim but found the pool small and too crowded to actually swim. The ship needs a pool that isn't party central all day.
Entertainment
We didn't take in any shows.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff in the Haven was awesome. Friendly, fun, welcoming. Our butler, Rogin was professional and on top of all out needs. Likewise, the steward and housekeeping staff.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Very clean and well maintained. A bit of a hike to the elevators, but not a problem.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
We upgraded to a forward facing penthouse house suite -- 12706. The balcony was a bit tight but otherwise the suite was awesome.
Ship tip
If you like to relax around the pool and swim this is not your ship. Check out excursions on an objective website like Trip Advisor.
The excursion to the Chankanaab Nat'l Park was not really as promised. There is a small beach but not really a place you'd want to snorkel. Did enjoy seeing the manatees and talking with some of the vendors. Really enjoyed interacting with the parrot for photos.
The village at the port is nice, but once beyond it, the locals attempting to sell excursions or taxi rides were relentlessly aggressive. So much so, we returned to the port shopping village and shortly after, back to the ship. NCL needs to warn people what to expect. I suspect an excursion booked through the ship would have been a better choice. We did have a great time with a "fish therapy" pedicure at the port.
The excursion to beach area was nice. It was good to spend time with the local people in their natural environment. Having said that, no one wants to depart the ship at 7 a.m. for the beach.
