Review summary

To be fair we chose this cruise for the itinerary…not the ship. However, the ship was a big disappointment. The upper decks were closed for the vast majority of the cruise and there were no accommodations made even though there were 4000 people jammed in the lower decks. They have 3 main restaurants and they were almost never open at the same time. We utilized the “pay’ restaurants 6 times and they were great (as usual). The other restaurants were extremely slow. Our average meal was 1 and ½ hours. This includes breakfast. Several times our food was either wrong or didn’t show up at all. As for the entertainment, it was average. The Cirque Jungle Fantasy was very good. Many things were not working on the ship. The pool was drained and only available on the last 2 days. The spa hot tub was broken for 2 days and the spa therapy pool was broken for the last 5 days. The “ropes” course on the upper deck was closed for the majority of the cruise and, when it was to open, they would not open even one minute early. When they did and we “walked the plank” we found out that the camera was not working so….no photo opportunity. Overall the experience was poor to say the least. This is our 6th cruise with Norwegian and was our worst.

We were on back to back cruises - Baltic and Transatlantic. Due to seeing ONLY 2 our of 5 Baltic stops, patrons were furious. Yes, weather was the factor, but NCL did NOT and is NOT compensating patrons for missed ports, as other cruiseline do.Stops on Transatlantic were good. Our steward, dining room staff, and bartenders were great. There were numerous areas that NCL should be reviewing and make the nessary modifications to make things flow better. NCL has lost us and others as clients.

Breakaway from NOLA should be awesome! I doubt you’ll be disappointed since it’s leaving from the warm weather going into warmer weather. It’s supposed to be the biggest cruise ship to ever homeport here.

Oh no. We leave on the Breakaway next month from New Orleans to the Caribbean. Hope we are not this disappointed.

Breakaway in cold or inclement weather was our least favorite NCL ship.

We are going on the 10/27 cruise next week and looking forward to it! We've been on both the Breakaway and the Getaway before. I agree with other comments that state it's a ship best suited to warm weather cruising, but we still had fun on a transatlantic. We just avoided the central atrium as much as possible and made lots of new friends while playing LCR!

maryanne6802: NCL does not have jr suites..... theses are mini suites and a little research you would've found that this stateroom is just a deluxe balcony (nicer bathroom). Perhaps BOTH answers were correct but the nights were changed after they answered you because of weather. Glad you are Loyal to Royal as they seem to please you.

We went on breakaway when it was very new. We found the service to be terrible including at the desk. It was the last cruise of the season to Fla and Bahamas before it switched to Bermuda itinerary. Perhaps the group on board were cranky/tired at the end? An example is when we asked what night the fireworks would be so our son didn’t miss them. We asked at the desk and 2 people had 2 different answers and BOTH were wrong. We had a junior suite and when opened the door, we thought they had made a mistake and put us in a balcony. The room was significantly smaller than royal Caribbean. We will never do Norwegian again. LOYAL to ROYAL
