Review summary

Very disorganized ship with very little info available. Daily news letter regularly included inaccurate info. Had to make trips to reception to correct erroneous charges. Long waits in understaffed restaurants with under trained wait staff. Many times part of our order was either lost or given to someone else. Spent more than 2-1/2 hours in Italian Specialty Restaurant because waiter forgot to turn in our order. The list could go on.

Due to ship design our balcony was unusable due to salt spray.

Don't. It doesn't have enough facilities or staff to service the number of customers on board.

Were told by staff that the mandatory transfer (docked at commercial dock) would not return until afternoon. That turned out to be false.

Waited at the dock for an hour in the wind an cold before a transfer bus was available for us. As with everything to do with this ship it was very disorganized.

First time on Breakaway for Baltic and Transatlantic. People furious as paid for 5 stops in Baltic, got 2 only. Yes, weather is uncontrollable, but NCL could give patrons some type of compensation, as other cruiselines do, but NOT. There are areas that need improvement. We had excellent steward, fine dining staff, and bartenders. However, NCL just lost 8 Cruisenext deposits and our patronage.

Definitely disorganized with the transfer buses in New York. And yes limited things to do on the ship since the outside was closed but we still had a great time.

wl1962: I agree, Breakaway is not my favorite and they made it worse by removing Uptown Grille but I'm excited that you have frequented the Gem often as my first time on her will be in May.

Was it a new staff onboard, many times the first 2 cruise with a new staff are rough untill they get accustomed to their new environment

we have been on the breakaway snd it is the only ship we have blacklisted. we found it to have poor service and the design makes it very crowded no matter where you are

What was your stateroom number? Could the weather and seas been a factor and not necessarily the design of the ship? Mistakes do happen in any restaurant but after the 1st hour without food you have some responsibility to ask and then when you got to the 2nd hour..... it's pretty much on you for that long of a time.
