Ship: Norwegian Breakaway

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Until NCL address service problems, improves training, and fixes system problems (such as only opening one overcrowded restaurant for breakfast on a transatlantic when all have time to dine), I would stay away from Breakaway.

Copenhagen was a breeze.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Good to very good meals in the specialty restaurants. Service and food quality was ok at times, but often poor to terrible in Taste and Savor General restaurants.

1 out of 5

Service and food were both poor.

Savor Restaurant

1 out of 5

Service and food were both poor.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Lots of origami and silly games.

Spa Thermal Suite

3 out of 5

Jacuzzi was lukewarm, pool wasn’t warm. Other features were pretty good.

4 out of 5
Big shows and comedy were pretty good. Syd Normans was also good. Lounge acts were boring.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Steward was quite good. Many servers were poorly trained and seemed to not want to be there. Wait service in bars and general restaurants were particularly bad (with occasional exceptions.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Design is ill-prepared for days when weather closes decks and pools. Soap dispensers in public restrooms often empty.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5

Ship tip

Pick a different ship. Service level is not up to NCL normal standards.
