Review summary

I picked this cruise this year because it fell perfectly with my sons school break but this year was a major wake up call that maybe NCL is not for us...we'll be looking elsewhere for our future endeavors

Embarkation

2 out of 5
The cruise company had us select a boarding time to avoid crowding and congestion and we still had to wait on long lines to get to the Metal detectors that only essentially led us to yet another Line! the Embarkation process was long and my kid and elderly mother were not enthused with the way it went.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The Food if you want to call it that was bland, dry and often under cooked! Every night the man dining rooms had themed dining experiences but every night the food was EXACTLY THE SAME. I lost weight on this cruise because all that was edible was the kid's corner food i.e. Fries and nuggets.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
I don't feel that the Ships crew accommodated the passengers with enough activities for the extra time we had to spend at Sea. All too often we were held up in the room playing games on our phones or reading books we brought along for the voyage.

Breakaway Casino

1 out of 5

The Casino was a ticket for people to light up and smoke EVERYWHERE!

Entertainment

I didn't attend any shows as they did not appeal to my family.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
My son absolutely LOVED Splash Academy!!! He cried when the vacation was over. Snow White, Kudos, Telly, B- Max and the whole gang were Amazing!

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
The staff this time around didn't have there hearts in it this year

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
The ship was dirty and the staff was Lackadasical in picking up after messy guests who left cups and plates as well as Spills and trash throughout the ship

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5

Ship tip

Book another Ship because this one is in major need of retirement!!

Ports of call

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

1 out of 5
We never got to go because of bad weather and were only given a $24 credit for the inconvenience SMH

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
The people of Nassau were wonderful. Always a pleasure to be in good company!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast easy and efficient

Our experience on the Breakaway last year was quite different. We did cruise out of NYC on a chilly, rainy day which meant lots more folks inside instead of on the pool deck. Even so, I'm not sure how you found yourselves bored. On all our cruises and ships there has always been something going on to do and we could always find some place we could go. With the exception of two breakfast entrees that were not as warm as we would like the food has always been very good and menus always had something new to try. I'm your experience was so negative.

Appears to be a cruise out of NYC in the winter where the weather wasn't great. Sorry but as an avid cruiser out of NYC I go in knowing that it's a gamble to go to the Bahamas in the November to April months because they can be hit with the cold fronts/bad weather/bad seas as well. Can't focus on the bad, we always make the best of it. We had a cruise in 2013 that went to the Bahamas, we left NY with 20 degree weather in Feb, made it to the Bahamas to enjoy 50 degree weather. We froze out @$$es off, but we hung out at the beach in our sweatshirts with our feet in the water and it was what it was.
