Review summary

I went on this vacation with not much thought and went with the flow. To my surprise, Iwas taken back in a very good way. We were on Anthem of the Seas in late August and had a lot of fun in this ship too. I give the Breakaway a notch up here based on the Cruise Director, very funny and entertaining. Food was better too. Staff on both ships were excellent. Entertainment were both excellent. in RCCL you find yourself dressing more smart oppose to the NCL ships. Although over all most people were dressed casual during the day and casual/ smart to sharp in the evenings. Will definitely ship with NCL again and being in the Haven just adds that much more to your trip. Feel free to ask away as we consider ourselves very active travelers and keep a very open mind on things.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We stayed in the Haven. Haven Restaurant was excellent with many choices to choose from Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner . Cagney's & Ocean Blue was very good.

The Haven Restaurant

5 out of 5

From Milo MaitreD with his outstanding service to making sure our dining experience was 5 stars every-time. To Manerva ( Waitress ) ,Tracy ( Waitress) to Marita Olga ( Bartender) to Archie ( Bartender) nothing short of 5 Stars and with their service. Also would like to give special thanks to Made Santiasa ( Courtyard Valet), always attending to our needs and everyone else's. True professionals to all the names above and I wish I have taken down other peoples's names in the NCL Breakaway to thank them.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
H20 lounge at night was a lot of fun-Music Dancing. We didn't get a chance to lounge by the Pool Area. Fitness Center could have been bigger and was much smaller than what we expected comparing to other ships we have sailed in the past. Even Bingo was fun ( Host and hostess were funny / entertaining ) and I am not a Bingo player.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Burn the Floor was 5 stars Rock of Ages was very good although I thought over 2 hours was a tad long for a show on a ship. Although my wife loved it. Overall very good. DJ's were very good. Comedy shows were LOL !!!

Children's Programs

Didn't bring children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Joy Perfinan ( Conceirge) & David Contreras ( Concierge) was there for all the guests and their requests- including ours. From escorting us to the shows and dropping by during our dinner venues to make sure we were okay. They were there from 8AM to 9pm+ every day during our trip & also the other concierge assistants. Our Butler Rogin was true professional and also Johnito ( our room attendant ) always with a smile :)

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I can only compare to other ships we have gone on. Breakaway's ship design is much better than the Anthem of the Seas -especially their Atrium. The design brought more people together and involved with their on board public activities. Kudos there.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Penthouse Balcony Suite- Very roomy for 2 people and was kept clean every single day. Balcony has enough space for 2. We sailed during the Christmas time frame & didn't get a chance to enjoy it. So many on board activities going on and with the shore excursions didn't get a chance to spend there.

Ship tip

Just pace yourself as these ships nowadays seem to have so much going on daily. It's almost set up to leave the door open for another trip again. The Breakaway is not even their biggest ship so I can't even imagine. Staff is over all friendly and I don't know how they do it. 6/7 days a week for 6-8 months straight and put on that smile. Not sure if many of us can do this .

Ports of call

New York, New York Did not visit port

We live in NYC

Port Canaveral, Florida Did not visit port

Very nice private beach. Weather wasn't accommodating yet made the most of it.

Nassau, Bahamas

Great time in Atlantis Hotel/ Beach Only Pass. Sunny day and staff at the beach was nice & the people whom were trying to sell vacationer things weren't over whelming at all. Water was crystal clear too. Very short trip from Port to Atlantis ( 5-10 minutes ride ).

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Haven makes a huge difference. You get quite a different experience in comparison with an interior room. I've been on three cruise lines and Norwegian is at the bottom for me but it is the only one going out from Boston. So I am booking it for April.

Everyone is dressed down to sharp- you won’t feel awkward what you decide to wear- I won’t recommend tank tops for dining . Most passengers whom do dress up is to have photo opts taken . Photos opts is when the ship is on seas day .

Wasn't planning on dressing too "up"...what have you seen on the breakaway? Hoping to go comfortable casual. Hopefully no evening gowns, etc.?
