Review summary

I would never get on this boat again. I was not at all happy with the stupid rules on this boat. The stores opened and closed at the worst times. The water park would randomly shut down. They did not offer a lot of things to do. And to top it off food poisoning from 2 SEPARATE restaurant.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Quick and easy. Was on the ship within 2 hours

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was hit or miss. Got very sick from two of the restaurants.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Activities were okay. Wish they offered more considered it rained a majority of our cruise. The foreign passengers on this trip were rude and pushy. I was knocked over multiple times. A lot of the crew members and other passengers were flabbergasted by their behavior

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were great! MAGIC MAN WAS AMAZING

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
Other than the children club they had (which did not look appealing at all) They did not offer very many options that included children on this cruise. Yes, they had a water park however, it rained almost our entire cruise. This was closed everyday. When it was opened up they would randomly close down for breaks throughout the day... Regardless if you were in line for 30 minutes only to get to the front and they tell you, "i will be back in 5 minutes.... 1 hour later they came back." VERY POOR EXPERIENCE.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The service was not very good. Yes Dan Dan was amazing (director) but the staff was terrible. I had terrible service at 2 restaurants.. we waited 1 hour to receive a meal. However, the rest of my family had already finished their dinner and was served their desserts. They kept telling me it would be out in 5 minutes, then 5 minutes later another 5 minutes. Then it finally came out and i ended up with food poisoning. FROM CHICKEN!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship seemed relatively clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin was exactly as described.

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5

Port Canaveral, Florida

3 out of 5
Not really much to do here.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

They cancelled this trip because of the weather. Then said they will take us to Nassau around 6pm the night before planned. The captain said this was a "fair trade" WHICH IT WAS NOT. We now had to buy a trip to the beach in nassau. And only was able to go on any excursion for 1 day. so an 8 day cruise with ONLY one beach day. WIth nothing to do on the cruise

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We had a great time at Blue lagoon

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Very poor 4 hours... in a line in the rain.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

I cruise two or more times a year. Been in breakaway many times. Love the ship and the staff. Never been sick. Too many precautions are taken. An epidemic of sorts happened on a cruise before mine once - due to poor customer habits I believe. But the crew managed miracles to prepare the ship and keep it sanitary all week. Kudos to the staff and cruise line.

Im still trying to figure out what rules they are referring too? Could it be the required muster drill, the casino being closed while in port, the not cutting in line at the buffet, or perhaps the washy, washy part? Hmmm, maybe that could have been why they got sick. Or maybe ordered their chicken rare. Hmmmm, so many rules and things to ponder...

I’ve been on the Breakaway twice and not a big fan. I prefer the smaller Gem much better.

Also side note to self: most of the time a rule is stupid to those that don't take the time to understand them. If you really went in a cruise I would think you paid too much money to be so unhappy amount such small things. And the stores? The store as well as the casinos close when in a port as well as late night hours. Remember understanding is 🔑

Stores can’t open until they’re in international waters. So, inconvenient for you but it’s the law at sea.

Ok I'm dying laughing over here ... way too much. First of all those statements can't be true as I myself as husband had actual food poisoning( bit in a cruise) we ordered the same thing this last Friday night and we were sick from them until Monday and yes we should of went to the hospital but we rode it out. Now I don't know about them but when you have this... how are you still eating, besides the vomiting and the bathroom runs (lol) your stomach is visiting Satan himself because the stuff is passing thru your system. So how the Frankenstein are they eating another meal? Please stop complaining imaginary incidents.

"Food poisoning FROM CHICKEN" so you had this confirmed from an independent lab did you? It couldn't have been, drinking too much, a shore meal, sea sickness etc. Disembarkation problems are a port problem not ncl!

And where were you in the rain when debarkation? Its all inside.

The water park MIGHT have shut down when sensors detected 'things' in the water requiring more chlorine/bromine or a total cleanse. Just saying!

Lopaka    7 years ago

Was food poising diagnosed by the ship’s doctor or a self- diagnosis?
