Review summary

Overall, everyone in our group, including myself had a fabulous time. I really enjoyed the 80s music with the video on 16. I enjoyed the singing group of 24 Karat (especially the Tina Turner tribute). Buffet was one of the best I've had- still thinking about it now. Did I mention O'Sheenan was great too. Went Friday night, when all was closed- nice comfort food. One downside, buffalo wings were waaay too spicey! I loved that hot dog stand outside O'Sheenan. Only had one dog, but just being there and available when you need a bite- so nice! Oh yeah- that one casino guy busting my chops- not so good.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Waiting on the line to board the ship took a very long time.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Meals at the Manhattan restaurant were subpar, with those that ordered cherry jubilee for dessert getting a bowl of almost completely melted ice cream. Didn't know why the waiter would even put that down on the table. Food at the 'Savor' and 'Taste' restaurants were much better. Though the food is cooked in the same kitchen for the 3 main dining rooms, the Manhattan Restaurant is a floor above the kitchen, and thus food is not as hot, and ice cream melted.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were plenty of activities available, though I didn't participate in too many. I did the obstacle course and 'wire' which was fun.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Loved the shows, especially Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor. The cirque show was a bit of a disappointment, with the dinner being a 'one meal fits all'. It was a one choice prix fixe menu serving 'surf and turf'- surf consisted of 4 small-medium sized shrimp and a well-done filet mignon (with no input from the diners on how we wanted it cooked).

Children's Programs

No children in our group.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Difficult to just put one number down, as service ranged from 2-5 stars. Service and staff were 5 stars at the buffet, 5 stars at Taste, 4 stars at Savor, 2-3 stars at Manhattan, 1-5 stars at the casino (depending on each individual). More specifically one dealer at the Paigow poker table would not allow me to pick up 5 cards first and then pick up the other 2 cards after. It was only this one dealer, and no other dealer or supervisor had any problem with it. I've been to dozens of casinos and have probably played a million hands of this game and I have never been told I could not do that. Cards were always in front on me and in full view of the dealer, but he cited 'security reasons'. Paigow is the only game I play on the ship, and as a matter-of-fact, I had choose Norwegian because Paigow is available, and convinced my group to go Norwegian for that reason. Will think twice next time I book a cruise. Room steward was very polite and accommodating.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
No complaints with the design- easy to find my way around. Common rest rooms were clean and well stocked, with paper towel machines near the exit doors always working- that I loved.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Size was as expected so that was fine. Cabin was cleaned properly, only thing is I wish the tissue box in the bedroom would have been replaced after it ran out- wasn't sure that was part of the routine, but there was a box there on the first day of the cruise. Refrigerator was locked the entire week- not sure why since I would imagine it gets checked regularly to see if any items were purchased.

Ship tip

Make sure you visit the 'Taste' Restaurant, and ask for the maitre' d named Jhon Puber- he and the waitresses/waiters under him go the extra mile.

Ports of call

New York, New York Did not visit port

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Great port! First day, we took a stroll in Hamilton, did some shopping, and had lunch at a restaurant called Pickled Onion- very good food, excellent service with such a friendly waitress. Second day, we went to the famous Horseshoe Bay. We rented 2 umbrellas and a few chairs for our group- the guys at that stand were so friendly and helpful. I'm not accustomed to anyone bringing the umbrellas to the spot you want in the sand, so this was such a welcome change. Water was warm, air breezy, and sand so soft and comfortable- I didn't want to leave, but the other 9 people that I came didn't give me a choice. Oh yeah, the van ride back to the port was uneventful (which is good). Coming from and living in New York, there are plenty of unscrupulous van and taxi drivers trying to take advantage of tourists. So glad I didn't have to be aggravated that way. I think it's regulated and enforced....... key word enforced.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Such a pleasant disembarkation- so quick and well organized. I guess it made up for the slow embarkation.

I totally agree, but I've been accustomed to handling my cards this way, and to all of a sudden get told I'm not allowed to do so is very annoying, I guess us the word. I was actually winning at the time, but I stopped playing because I couldn't do it my way. And like most gamblers, we're superstitious- so I feel that if I can 'squeeze' the last 2 cards at the end, that I will get a better hand. Of course, my hand doesn't change, but I just like it that way.

Casino guys 'busting chops' are OK when you are winning. Not so nice when losing.
