Overall, Bermuda was the saving grace of this trip. Norwegian was a big let down compared to my experiences on Royal Caribbean, but Bermuda was worth the trip.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
We got onto the ship relatively quickly, but between the pier and my room, someone broke a whole corner of my luggage with the wheel right off.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food was fair at best, nothing compared to the delicious meals I've enjoyed on Royal Caribbean. The expensive drink package didn't include water bottles or energy drinks like Royal does either. 4/5 times that I ordered a medium steak/prime rib I received very well done and dried out meat.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
I actually looked forward to using the ropes course on this ship and every single day at sea the course was closed due to "high winds". The few times it was open I was not able to get on due to enormous lines. Overall ship layout caused areas to feel very overcrowded. There wasn't a single day there was an inch of room in the pool, and the hottubs were Always over capacity with kids.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The one comedian I saw was good, but what Norwegian doesn't inform you of ahead of time is that the best shows you have to pay for as an additional hidden cost.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Staff were mostly nice, but didn't meet any of the over friendly standards I was used to with Royal Caribbean.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
On paper the ship seems to have a good layout, but upon being in it, extremely overcrowded. The flow of the set up made poor traveling walkways. I have been on smaller ships with more passengers and never felt as crowded as this ship did. Eating at the buffet was a nightmare and you'd be lucky to find a seat. By the end of the trip there would be garbage or food left in the elevators that was not being taken care of.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
This was by far the smallest inside stateroom I have ever been in, in my 6 cruise history. The accent lighting above the bed flickered on and off consistently, the shower would not drain properly and would overflow out onto the floor every time we showered. The tv remote seemed to have a mind of its own and worked when it wanted to. Very disappointed.
Bermuda was fantastic and beautiful. Everyone was so friendly. The Restless Native catamaran was great! Horseshoebay beach was gorgeous, the caves were fun.
the whole problem here was the original poster put their issues on another site.
this site didnt have all the issues listed and others made it clear that we who read this post didnt see all the issues. apparently this site shipmate only gives reviews. funny, but quite a few others couldn't figure out the op problems either.
1. They were disappointed with the food, not as good as other lines. It wasn't prepared to their specifications. Difficulty finding seating at the buffet. 2. The ship layout made it feel as if it were very congested. Too crowded to use rope course. 3. Paying additional money for a better quality show. 4. Staff not as good as other ships. 5. Crowded pool and hot tubs overflowing with children. 6. Cleanliness of ship was lacking--food and garbage left in elevators and hallways. 7. Cabin smaller than other lines. 8. Condition of cabin was not good. Shower drain was not working; broken lighting; T.V. not working properly.
So what is it that the OP is not being specific about?
Ejan, they stated they had been on RC in the past, but didnt say why exactly they didnt like NCL. If you have an issue with a ship and you are going to post, then its helpful if they state the issue. Not just a broad comment about not liking it.
Im platinum on Carnival, sailed RCCL several times, and Celebrity, along with a coue lines, and my small group are now fans of Norwegian for so many reasons.
Oddly some people who say they have done many cruises have no reviews but comment on anothers. That said i really like details on what you liked or did not like about a ship. A sentence on a like or dislike is often enough to get the gist. All cruiselines have good and bad
