Review summary

I had a couple of huge disappointments that will keep me away from Norwegian cruise lines in the future.  Also, I will not be recommending Norwegian to my friends and family.

i paid $200 gratuity up front, and my bed wasn't made before 8pm at night every night except for my last day.  This ruined my entire trip.

also, I'm hearing Impaired, and the televisions on the cruise do not have closed captions unless you purchase a movie.  I couldn't even watch a news channel because of this.  When I complained to the customer service desk the employee said no and just shrugged his shoulders.

never again.

Thanks for sharing your cruise with us.

This is last thing I will say. Its funny how the most opinionated of people have a problem with other people's opinions. Sounds extremely hypocritical to me.

Last comment on this: an opinion can certainly be intepreted as fact if no one speaks up with the actual fact. I have no issue with someone who has a different opinion than mine but when their opinion is not based on facts then there is a responsibility we all have to offer facts to challenge that opinion (OP's opinion is there is no closed caption on NCL TVs but fact... there is; OP's opinion is that their Steward ruined the vacation by not making bed but fact..... there is a "Do Not Disturb" light that could've been activated that now a new cruiser is aware of)...... and lastly, the passport example is the gold standard of an "opinion" that when passionately discussed it becomes fact to someone not familiar with closed loop cruising. - I appreciate our dialogue and do agree everyone is entitled to an opinion but, my opinion, is that we owe it to those who may be first cruisers or not as experienced cruisers to clarify opinions especially on an open forum that's not moderated or fact checked.

Thats not an opinion, its a fact. Big difference between correcting incorrect information and judging other people's personal opinions.

If you have never cruised and you have some off the wall reviewer speaking gospel...... some will believe regardless of how off the wall it is.... ever hear of Jim Jones / Jonestown Massacre? If someone's "opinion" is a passport is a MUST to travel to Bermuda...... shouldn't someone say "ummm, you're wrong"?

fooshrock    7 years ago

That's the problem right there, I don't believe people should be corrected for their opinion. Either if I don't agree with them or even it's completely off the wall and insane. It's their opinion and they have a right to it. If other people take it as gospel and are not bright enough to weed through the ridiculous complaints and negativity that's their problem.

foshrock: I think everyone will agree with you 10000% that an honest review has a lot of merit but when someone complains that their bed wasn't made and it ruined everything or they complained that closed caption doesn't work but it does.... I will speak for myself in saying there are people who read such reviews and if they go unchecked or unchallenged then people get wrong info or opinions. If I reviewed NJ in an extremely negative light and made unrealistic untrue comments, I'm going to bet a dollar you would correct them.

What is the point in posting a review when everyone contradicts everything you say? Isn't a review supposed to be your experience and thoughts about your trip? Obviously everyone has different opinions, but I just don't get the flaming when people are doing just what a review is supposed to be, giving their personal experience! Whether I agree or disagree, it's still interesting to hear another's perspective! Just MY 2 cents.

😂😂 I can't believe what I am reading, I tell my overworked cabin stewards to relax and do my room whenever they like, and also say don't worry about turning my bed down in the evening as I am quite capable of pulling a duvet back myself, this is where cruising gets its nonsey ponsey reputation from. Only time I have the TV on is to view my account, what's the matter with some people, watching TV on holiday 😂😂😂

LadiesCruisin30    7 years ago

really cause your bed wasn't made???lmfao it ruined your trip over a bed that wasn't made??I cant😂

dlich62: I've been on the Breakaway and I am currently on the Dawn as I type this..... there is a button on the remote "cc" for "closed caption"..... I use it all the time including right now. If you missed the "cc" for the entire week you you may have missed the "Do Not Disturb" light too. sherried: victim blaming??? nope, just holding people accountable for things instead of enabling and labeling them a "victim"

KDEES2    7 years ago

Victim blaming? You gotta be kidding. How 'bout using common sense and simple problem solving. You lames are a trip. Y'alls cruise "deal breakers" are tooooo funny! hahahahahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣

wl1962    7 years ago

We feel the same way about the beakaway. Only ship we will not sail again. I know its our fault that we expected good service and food. Afterall WE were on vacation and should have made the best of it

sherried    7 years ago

and let the victim blaming begin...

nreffie    7 years ago

Seriously you shouldn't have been in your room long enough to care about your bed not being made. You're on a cruise enjoy it!

CathyE998    7 years ago

We forgot to turn off the DO Not Disturb light once and I called the room steward who brought us clean towels within 10 minutes....they were very accommodating and that's when I learned what our mistake was. Hey, it happens

DottieDiehl    7 years ago

1st, I thought the hearing impaired caption was standard. 2nd, Is it possible you left the do not disturb sign on the door? If not I would have questioned my cabin Steward about making the bed. Couldn't you use your hearing aid? Sometimes we need to improvise.

swearinerin    7 years ago

not having your bed made up RUINED the ENTIRE trip? damn. what happens when you stub your toe? get allergies? does the world end?
