Review summary

The best part of this cruise was being with my family.  We were not impressed with anything we experienced during this cruise.  The room and food was satisfactory but nothing to brag about.  There was not much entertainment on this cruise compared to other cruises we have been on.  The same lame couple singing oldies duets and some guy playing the piano.  The entertainment was set up in the main area of the ship (in the same proximity as the customer service desk).  The seating was poor and sparse.  When we did have to speak to someone at the customer service desk about our excursion, the gal was RUDE and condescending.  We had difficulty hearing any of the staff at the service desk area because the music was so loud (again... the duo singing oldies).  We commented several times that it was a very poor set-up on this ship.  The bartenders were aweful.  They made it obvious that they were not happy to be serving anyone and took forever to make a drink.   Several of the other cruisers complained to us as we were waiting for our drinks.  One gal said, "I'm a bartender and I've never seen anyone take so long to pour a beer".  We didn't get to experience EITHER of our excursions (one was cancelled due to weather and one was missed because the time was changed WITHOUT US KNOWING.  I had scheduled a 1 pm catamaran cruise with snorkeling and rum punch.  They changed it to 9 am.  Who drinks run punch at 9 am (AM????).  I had paid the insurance for this excursion and still was denied a refund because apparently an e-mail had been sent to our home DAYS BEFORE THE CRUISE.   We were busy preparing for the cruise, not checking our e-mails.

Very disappointed with many aspects of this cruise.  It is especially upsetting that you have staff working who are either not into providing service or, worse, are RUDE to people who pay their hard earned money for a cruise.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

we travelled the breakaway a few years ago and found the bar service atrocious. The bartenders always seemed miserable and did not rush to serve you (even with an empty bar). We sent a bad survey back to NCL and never heard anything. That being said, we are booked on the breakaway later this month. We are excited to try it again since we had an amazing experience on the Escape recently. I'm willing to have an open mind and assume I had a "tough week" for the crew. I'm hopeful that this trip will be as amazing as the trip on the Escape.

I had the time changed on 2 of my excursions and I wasn't made aware of this by email. The tickets were in my cabin the day we sailed and I looked at them and the time changes were noted on ticket and a notice stapled to the ticket alertly of the change. I didn't have any problems with any ' gals, ' either😂😂😂

Can i ask what bars you had issues with?

We have been on BA 5 times and have never had any issues. Never had to wait for drinks, plenty of food with a wide variety. First time we went we did have a room over the jazz club, but we had been upgraded to a mini so not complaining about that. Yes it does get loud in the Atrium area, but its basically the main meeting place. Cruising is what you make of it. Do your research on cabin location. When going to eat try to go later than early and you usually dont have much of a wait.Never have done any excursions, so cant really comment on them. We have another cruise set for Thanksgiving week again and will have the same cabin we just had. Aft balcony under Spice H2O. Yes you can hear the music when they have events up there, but we are usually too tired to even hear it. Something about being at sea that makes us sleepy.

been on the Breakaway for 4 cruises and a 14 day back to back booked for Jan-Feb 2018. I agree with you about the noise in the atrium and trying to talk to guest services or excursion desk.

Breakaway is awful. The only ship we have been on that we would not consider again. All you said is true. I wish ncl would notice
