Review summary

the trip to Bermuda was amazing but the service received on the boat was not good at all. the room steward person never cleaned our room or had clean towels for us to use. He also never replaced the toilet paper so we had to search the hallways for a cart and take them from there. The food was awesome as always and the drink package was super great.

my room was cleaned one day out of the 7 day cruise and we spoke to the room person and all we got was yes I will clean your room later and it never happened. there were no towels or toilet paper available and we had to find it through the halls.

Always check to see what light is on over your door.

The guests service director George should be able to assist you with your problems and you can choose to NOT pay gratituties ( $13.50 pp per day) you have rights

Muster is in a few different places but indoors. Our spot was in O'Sheehans. Get there early if you want a seat!

We cruise every six months. Whenever we have a bad experience we always email and they compensate us for our next cruise. 😊

Woodruff yay!!! What an awesome bday gift! Ty, we r excited!

We have always picked up and fixed our beds and had the garbage ready along with whatever dirty towels so when the steward came in it was easy in and easy out. I think it's just human nature. I don't think e could leave our room without doing it.

It was fantastic! We will definitely do this cruise again, just at a different time of year. It was chilly on deck with the wind in Bermuda. We went for our son's 13th birthday. He had a blast. We loved it. You'll have a great time!

denholmscruise I just got back from the breakaway and they do the muster drill indoors, your key card will notify you as to where you need to go 😊

Esm54687 do u know if ncl has muster outside for ncl breakaway? I cant ever remember what lines have it inside or outside but i always forget to bring a jacket and freeze!!!

Kristiscraft i agree!!

Rguemhaus a neurotic person aka me. Lol. I am that person who wipes down every surface of the room before i unpack. If they clean our room i always clean it beforehand and pick up all our garbage etc... plus the staff work so hard it feels good to give them less work. Also when we need something they are super attentive. For a 5 day cruise we usually tip 20 bucks on embarkation day and ask for ice for our champagne. Then leave an extra 20 in a ty card. For longer trips we will throw another 20 every couple days. They reallllllly appreciate the cash. And we get treated extra well.

Kristiscraft    8 years ago

Rgruenhaus there are many times we would rather people stay out of our room. We don't demand things. But we will ask for things when needed. I guess we see it as they bust their butts all day. So if we don't need it done then leave it be.

esm54687... we did that one day and were confused when we came back. We remembered playing with all the buttons so just turned the clean room switch on and like magic it was all clean when we got back.

Who pays for a cruise and let's the room attendant go without servicing the room? The first day you meet the room attendant you ask/tell what will be done and expectations.

We are excited about the light concept... i hate those door hangers that never stay put. And we too would rather our room be straightened up by us and let our steward have 1 less room to do each day. We just ask for towels when we need them, and they rush over with towels.

the OP may have accidentally hit the "do not disturb" so the steward was actually following their direction

pawcoyote    8 years ago

Thanks thats a good thing... cool

esm54687    8 years ago

on some of the newer ships you have the ability to turn on a "do not disturb" or "make up room" light that is on the outside of the door.....tech version of the door knob sign.

pawcoyote    8 years ago

What is this light thing? They should come and clean the room no matter what.

CruisingQueen21    8 years ago

I forgot to switch my light one day last year room was never cleaned. My fault. Learned my light lesson lol

Kristiscraft I have had the same call The first days at sea all I want to do is sleep, eat, decompress, and get ready for island adventures !!!

Kristiscraft    8 years ago

Yeah I agree esm. Haha one year we didn't want to be bothered. So we placed the do not disturb sign out. We had the front desk call us to see if we were okay after the second day. Haha we just didn't need anything. Lol

esm54687    8 years ago

I completely agree ..... even in hotels I've been known to go take a roll or two off a cart and it's never a problem to do that. Just as if I was at a restaurant and needed more napkins, I will head over to the bus station and grab some if a server is unavailable or busy. What perplexes me is that the OP had ZERO room attention and for whatever reason tolerated it for the full trip.

Kristiscraft    8 years ago

Haha we had that one year on the dawn. For some reason we never had toilet paper. We would just take it off the cart. We did tell someone but they informed us they were short handed. I guess taking the extra step to grab the paper off a cart could be a pain but if that's the worse that happened we looked at it as a blessing. :) sorry you had a bad experience.

clferr    8 years ago

There is always an extra roll on the shelf in the bathroom. Towels are replaced if you leave them on the floor. But most ships, hotels, motels etc. suggest you HANG them up so they arent replaced and to save on washing costs. I agree, did you call housekeeping to get replacements or did you just assume they would know?

esm54687    8 years ago

I am curious what the Hotel Director's response was to you concerning this horrendous service (or lack of)? I'm assuming you immediately went down or called him directly on the second day. I'm stunned that your room was "never cleaned" and you had to search for towels and toilet paper.
