Review summary

I was very disappointed with the Breakaway no wow factor to that ship at all. Service was pretty good, food in main dining rooms was good but could not believe all the upcharges on food in complimentary dining rooms. Even a charge for room service now. Drinks were so watered down don't think there was any alcohol in them. Our room was 8100 directly at the front of the boat there was very rocky seas which of course is not the cruise lines fault but that room was uninhabitable we were falling out of bed it was insane made them switch me to another room on the way back to new York...my daughter got so seasick it brought on a vertigo attack they should not give that particular room to anybody. And having one pool for 4 thousand people is insane also you could never get near it. Shows were good but you even have to pay for one of them. and there is no outdoor dining by the pool. You have to walk quite a distance to the buffet. This was my 5th cruise and I have never  had a  bad experience before. :(

Awful should not put rooms in the front nose of the ship the rocky seas were to much to bear could never sleep in that room.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

We tipped two bartenders $20 ...we almost drowned from the excess attention and drinks..lol! We couldn't put our drinks down empty without another one being there to replace it. And I wish they were watered down.. several times I had to ask for more juice or soda to be added! I love waves Bar and the super friendly and attentive bartenders.

They don't see that 18% I give a few bucks a drink. If you write on the bottom of the bill it says additional tip they don't see that they split that at the end of the month with all bar staff.Im friends with a few of them and they do work long hours. So the person who they know gives a buck or more per drink gets served quickly. You are on vacation enjoy yourself 😎

Cruise line employees are paid so poorly, worse than a common waiter/waitress in the US. Sure tips are included but it doesn't go to the single server making your next drink. A buck on the bar when you order ensures great service on any line. Same for a first class lounge at an airport or an open bar at a wedding.

Again, I am just saying that the drink I favor is $14. 18% of that is 2.52 to pour a glass of wine. More than sufficient. A basic drink is at least $8. Basic tip on that is 1.44 , very fair. Add a buck to that and your at a 31% tip , fine if you like but excessive by most standards, even non cheapskates. Again that being said you should not have to tip extra for any service if you are being charged a more than fair charge for the service already. 18% is a very fair tip

True but cruzeing didn't say a big tip, simply a tip. Also, I don't think that giving an extra dollar or two is unreasonable, especially considering how busy most of the bartenders are. I'd prefer tipping them individually rather than the service charge myself but I assume that was put in place due to cheapskates that didn't tip at all...

You should not have to give a big tip each time, hit or miss. They already add 18% to the drinks, more than a decent tip. Before somebody says it was an included drink pkg., no matter if it was or not. Tips ARE included

I have been on the breakaway 4 times in a year.I just got back October 2nd and I always have a great time. Its a big ship and you have to know the ins and outs.I don't disagree with the pool being small and the walking is a lot to get to the buffet.I never had a watered down drink in fact the bartenders always had my drink replaced before I asked because I gave them a tip each drink.hit or miss
