Review summary

While we enjoyed our stay in Bermuda - the country is beautiful and the people are friendly and helpful - the trip was another story. The Breakaway is certainly a beautiful ship, but we found the activities available rather boring. That's just us, of course. You may enjoy ridiculous "game shows" and simplistic trivia contests, or the "Ms Biceps" competition. And if you like to drink, gamble and buy expensive (tacky) jewelry (we don't), a Norwegian cruise ship is the place to be. Perhaps we expected too much, having sailed on the SS Norway (the greatest cruise ship ever) years ago, but we spent most of our on-board time bored. One exception - the production of "Rock of Ages" was outstanding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food in the Main Dining Room we tried was not very good, but the Italian Specialty Restaurant - La Cucina - was excellent.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The cast of "Rock of Ages" were terrific. The "pop" singer in one of the lounges was not.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The housekeeping staff were wonderful. Some of the buffet attendants were rude and unhelpful.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

Clean, well-maintained, comfortable bed, reasonable closet space.

Ship tip

La Cucina is the best place to eat. There is also a nice lounge nearby for relaxing in relative peace. If you like to explore the deck, I recommend Deck 7. Very few people frequent it because it has no outdoor bars or shops.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Certainly not all the onboard activities are for everybody. But between the comedy shows, duelling pianos, other live entertainment and other options that may change from cruise to cruise it's too bad you couldn't find something to feel entertained. But there's always sitting and enjoying the sun, the view and a couple of drinks!
