Review summary

The first day on board was a disaster.  ID card error, conflicting information, misplaced luggage, inaccurate/poor information, etc.  Guest services told us the first day is chaotic.  There was no orientation for first time cruisers.  This is a family oriented cruise with a focus on family/kids activities.  If you are adults traveling to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, etc we would not recommend this cruise.  Pool area crowded and @ sea no lounge chairs available.  The "supper club"  seemed to be an area for kids to use the dance floor.  Children up late and attended "adult" shows.  Very crowded ship with all staterooms occupied.  Great for Norwegian business purposes, but not so for those of us who wanted a focus on mature activities and events.  They seemed focused on trying to nickel and dime guests for many services/events/programs, etc.   Finally, the casino was a designated smoking area if you gambled.  This was so smokey if was very uncomfortable.  If you are a non smoker and want to gamble on a cruise do not sail with Norwegian.   We would not travel on a Norwegian family breakaway cruise nor would we suggest it especially for mature travelers.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
food was good with variety of menu items.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Focus seemed to be on family/kid programs. Casino was a designated smoking area. Way to "smokey" to enjoy. Terrible gambling setting.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Enjoyable shows and lounge entertainment. Adult only shows were attended by children with parental approval (@ times uncomfortable)

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
They try hard, but ship computer system had many "glitches". At times staff was difficult to understand due to accents.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
comfortable , better than expected.

Ship tip

A family focus ship, not the best option for adult couples wanting a relaxed vacation cruise. They "sell" packages and events seem to all come with add ons or buy this. Norwegian wants to introduce themselves to your wallet, be careful.

Ports of call

We know the city. Love it.
