Yes Wendy I only cruise November thru February. BEST TIME to cruise the Breakaway, kids are in school and not to many vacationers. I have cruised 5 times on the breakaway and I will tell you guys I'VE NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE.... Good luck to everyone but this gal is a norwegiener for life. I like to enjoy a vacation without so many rules, reatrictions, and /or formalities.

Just got off Breakaway yesterday .. This time we were in the Haven and it is the only way to cruise on the big ships. Enjoyed our own private sundeck, pool and hot tubs. Our Haven Restaurant was amazing. We went outside Haven only a few times and we're so happy to get back. The people and noise was unbelievable!!! We are already booked for Haven next September... We will always be Haven guests from now on! Ocean Blue Restaurant is over priced and not good seafood... Went once and would never recommend it.

Crowded,  Noisey.  Bad food.

Kostik    9 years ago

It is still crowded. Not as much I suppose but there were plenty of people everywhere.

wendyreyes    9 years ago

*crowded

wendyreyes    9 years ago

had anyone gone to Bahamas IN November? Is it less crowed than the summer and is the weather hot in bahamas or is it in the high 70s?

angelpoet    9 years ago

Did Breakaway last September with balcony. Yes pool area crowded, but enjoyed every moment of the cruise. This September we decided to upgrade to Haven Courtyard Penthouse. I am looking forward to the perks and less crowds :)

Your vacation is what you make of it.If you have a positive attitude and overlook the few things that bother you will have fun.You could have paid for vibe and had your own area and lounge chairs. Its always full during summer break kids are off you have to go during school if possible.Sorry you had a bad cruise😟

I will be honest in regards to my personal experience. My first time cruising out of NY was a headache they made better. I live in PA and when we arrived my husband realized HE had left my luggage. ....well Norwegian helped me get ahold of a guy who drove to PA and back to NY just for my bag. We were 3 mins away from loosing our trip. The dock supervisor personally escorted us onto the ship. Once onboard guest services sent champagne and strawberries to my room with a note saying...."Hope you begin to enjoy like a Norwegian". The rest of the week was AWESOME we went in Oct. 2013 yes the pool was crowded due to ppl sitting around it and not swimming in it. The shows were very good, always got front row seats because I use a watch to tell time as to the start times of the shows. My 2nd time I went with my entire family including an 11 yr old, a 15, 16, 19, hubby and myself. Loved it even more. That was December 2014 yes it was cold the first 2 days till we reached Florida but inside there is sooooooooo much to do. Read your daily planner given to you by your stewart. On our way back from Nassau captain Hoyt said there was bad weather so we were going to reroute stay in warmer waters till about 2 am then he was going to full throttle to make time. it wasn't bumpy at all. I can truly say I CRUISE LIKE A NORWEGIAN. ......Going back Nov 8th, with my 7 best friends.

Glad you found the "right" cruise for you :-) The original poster just sounded like they hadn't really thought about timing, ship size, etc. Cruises make for a wonderful vacation but like everything else, research is needed to get what will meet needs/expectations.

Pool is of out most importance for me. So taking that into account, the best experience so far was cruise to Halifax and Boston I just did on QM2. Very few people, I practically had pool all to myself. You also don't get harassed by pool bar staff. They do ask if you want a drink, but it's not an array of people coming over every 3 minutes. Very pleased.

We went in June and it was the best cruise next to Disney. Ship was great and so was service. It was crowded by pool but there is so much to do it didn't matter.

Deniseg    9 years ago

I am going on my 8th cruise with Carnival. They have all been 8 days long in June except the one coming up. We are going on a 14 day in March. I am curious to see how much the crowd will change.

Very few families with school age kids or college students will be on a 2 wk cruise during the school year when school is in session. More passengers don't have children or they have very young children making it a different type of atmosphere than the more "family vacation" atmosphere of the 1 wk/summer cruises.

Kostik    9 years ago

Can you please expand on that my3sonsnj

Cruising for 2 wks in February. Picked this time of year and length because it appeals to a different demographic than the 1 wk summer cruise. I am very much looking forward to this cruise and perhaps the advice is to think about what type of experience you are seeking prior to booking.

cjohnsen22    9 years ago

I went when it was completely full a month ago and had a total opposite experience. Everything was great. Plenty of room for everyone and we discovered it is what you make of it. If we felt the pool was too crowded, we went and enjoyed one of the many other activities on board.

You will love it! Enjoy. I fell in love with ship and Bermuda. Such a nice safe place to visit and explore. We took the pink bus to many beaches. I think about 5. And you wont find a better ferry ride. Air conditioned and very comfortable.

NickChris456    9 years ago

Kelly - thanks for calming my fears really looking forward to the ship and my vacation 😀

kellylawson9275    9 years ago

Who you talking to kostik?

Kostik    9 years ago

But seriously, people should not go on the trips on big boats that obviously want to get paid before wanting to entertain, which is why there are mega ships. 3000 people....you need at least 8 pools and 20 jacuzzis.

Kostik    9 years ago

Is this your real picture?

kellylawson9275    9 years ago

Yes people that think when theres over 3000 people on board and that they are the only ones and shouldn't have to wait need their heads read.

Kostik    9 years ago

Big ships with loads of people means extra wait time to disembark. No lobster? I guess I am not going.

luvvacay908    9 years ago

Im still very excited and looking forward to this cruise, hopefully your next cruise experience will be better for you

luvvacay908    9 years ago

Ive heard mostly good reviews but do hear that the pool area gets crowded. I think this is the only cruise, besides carnival that leaves from NY to Bermuda. I feel it brings a lot more plp since you can save some $ than buying a plane ticket. Im not a swimmer and idk it doesnt take much to make me happy. I hope to do RCL or Disney one day soon!! Next year God willing!!

kellylawson9275    9 years ago

I went to Bermuda last Sept on Breakaway. That person is just one of those people that cant be pleased. Ship was awesome. Bermuda was awesome. Everything about it was great. My only disappointment was they no longer serve lobster in dining room on formal night. Was looking forward to that and it didn't happen.

NickChris456    9 years ago

Oh boy - sailing September 13 - 20th maybe won't be as crowded? But area schools are on holiday the 14th and 15th - we will see.

Kostik    9 years ago

Hello. Thank you for your comment. This seems to be a common theme that the Breakaway is not a ship to be on. I will look into coming back to the Royal Caribbean or better. Just sailed with Queen Mary 2 to Canada, PLENTY of chairs and fancy, easy and safe ship. Many old people though.
