Review summary
We have sailed with Norwegian quite a few times & this is by far the worst cruise we have ever been on.The food in the main restaurants was average at best. The buffet food was terrible. service disgusting, no tables cleared, over run with children & most of the time the food was cold & tasted burnt. We decided to splash out & pay to eat in the Italian restaurant only to find the dishes were exactly the same as the included restaurants....save your money & don't bother!.
Although our cabin was kept resonably clean we never once saw our housekeeper!!!The ship it self is really beautiful with impressive shopping but the crew seem to nickel & dime everywhere.EVERYTHING costs extra....but they use clever words like "free" & "complimentary" when it should read "included".The crew have no control over the passengers...especially people with children.....they are everywhere including the casino &
adult areas only. When we complained we were told there was nothing they could do as the passengers report the crew as being rude!!!!
We will NOT be travelling Norweigan for a while...not until they get there act together!!!!

The food was boring and tasteless...except for the salt. And the chef seemed to have a thing for fennel. I didn't like the fact that they were trying to manipulate you into paying for another restaurant by serving you uninspired, pedestrian food in the main dining room. As an example of what their competition does in the main dining room, I've posted a typical menu of entrees. (Also, the Breakaway did not list appetizers, soups as inidividual categories or courses, but under some listing as "starters." They were jumbled together into an unorganized mess. I think it was to make you feel that you could order only one thing before the entree.)
Here is a sample menu from their competition:
Mediterranean Chicken Pasta
Served With Spinach, Sun-Dried Tomato, Sliced Mushrooms and Chardonnay Cream Sauce
Cedar Plank Grilled "Black Salmon"*
Served with Yellow Corn Mashed Potatoes, Haricots Verts-Artichoke Ragoût, Crispy Bacon and BBQ Sauce
Quail Delight
Roasted California Raised Quail with Wild Rice and Black Truffle Stuffing; Served Over Braised Savoy Cabbage, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Sautéed Wild Mushrooms and Sage Jus
Roasted Colorado Rack of Lamb*
Dijon & Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb; Served with Mashed Potatoes, Steamed Broccoli Florettes, Glazed Baby Carrots and Rosemary Lamb Jus
"Signature" Beef Tournedo*
Medallion of Beef Tenderloin, Ragoût of Morel Mushrooms & Pearl Onions and Roasted Potatoes; Served with Haricots Verts and Black Truffle Sauce
Vegetable Paella
Paella-Style Steamed Vegetables with Israeli Couscous and Cilantro Aioli Crostini
