Q: We will be on this ship for New Year’s Eve. If you’ve been on this or any other NCL ship during this holiday- Will they have special menu items in the Main dining rooms? Or are we better off making reservations in one of the speciality restaurants? TIA

A: Nena1111. Does this mean that you’ve been during New Year’s Eve and that there isn’t a special menu? Or just make reservations to speciality dining?

Q: I keep hearing various opinions about tipping and we’re trying to budget accordingly. We have NCL free at sea that will include drink package. We have paid our gratuities up front. Will we need to tip in addition to that for drinks? Also will we need to tip additional for our specialty meals? Wanting to pay for everything up front and then not worry during cruise y’know, enjoy all inclusive like

A: it's strictly up to you, but your servers and bartenders do appreciate it! We always get the drink pkg and pay our gratuities ahead of time. but we usually tip additional if they give good service!
Answered by pavs01 on August 14, 2022
A: You do not have to tip! But I will say we bring a bunch of dollar bills and tip the bartenders and servers who take care of us a buck at a time. we also tip the cabin steward $10 a day when they give good service. Now this is not required at all. But... if you know what the people really make and how much get sent home spending an extra 100 to 150 Tipping is just part of the cruising experience.See More

A: we always bring extra to tip with because they work so hard and get paid so little and we are blessed enough to be able to take a vacation when there are so many others who are not. and yes we also pay everything ahead of time for no surprises later... on.See More

A: Not sure how it works for packages, as I usually don’t get one, but when I use my card, there is already a good gratuity on the price of the drink, so no you don’t have to, but entirely up to you.

A: I called NCL and asked A similar question regarding Roatan . They told me as long as your testing within the time frame to get on the ship at the start you don’t have to be tested at the actual arrival port.

Q: Hello! August 21, going to New England and Nova Scotia on Breakaway. I noticed the alcohol package says no bottled water. Has anyone purchased the water package and is it worth it? Additionally, is upgrading to premium plus alcohol worth it?

A: The water out of the tap is really good. I'm a water snob and didn't feel the need to upgrade to the boxed/bottled water.
Answered by hmaccartney on July 25, 2022
A: I think it's a little pricy but worth it if you don't want to walk for it You can fill your own bottles in the cafe Drink pkg upgrade offers a few more things but that too seems pricy

A: I always order one of the bottled water options when we cruise. Very convenient to have in your room when you want it. The water is in the room waiting for our arrival. 😊.

A: For our 12th October cruise I’m sure bookings were available from about 15th June. MDRs are available for booking at the same time, they have been very busy so I would book for those too if you know which ones you’re going for. Just keep checking und... er your booking on the app for your cruise, under dining, it will tell you when you can start booking then you can go into each restaurant individually to choose day/time.See More

A: I have not snorkeled with that excursion, but have snorkeled on others and it is awesome there in Costa Maya. The one it have taken is more of a pirate ship theme and you keep you snorkel so no need to get your own, but if you feel safer it's an opti... on as I have seen people bring their own.See More

Q: Can someone please explain what type of test we need a few days before our cruise out of NOLA near the end of March if we are already fully vaccinated and have our card for proof? I know they are no longer requiring the one at the port prior to boarding. Thanks in advance!

A: The email I got said Antigen or PCR and gives a time frame for you to have it. Since you cruise toward the end of March you’ll likely get it in a week r two. Being a nurse that triages covid all day every day I have some advice to share. A antigen te... st is always recommended if you have recently had covid as a pcr can show positive longer and can show positive months later depending on how your body clears covid. Most home tests are antigen not all but most. If you have had covid recently test yourself at home before confirmation testing with a third party! And enjoy your cruise 🚢See More

Q: Can anyone tell me how comfortable the extra beds are in the 2 bedroom Haven suite? We are bringing my MIL and our 2 kids and want to make sure the room is comfortable for all 5 of us. Is the price worth it? I haven’t seen many reviews. We have traveled once with NCL and had a balcony and it was great. Just hoping for a good experience. TIA
