Review summary

This was my first cruise and my husband's third, and both of our first time on Holland America. We really enjoyed our time onboard and would sail with HAL again in the future.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
No problems embarking, though the ship was delayed in leaving Port Everglades.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the food onboard, particularly the Pinnacle Grill. The buffet was also very good. The main dining room was our least favorite but it was still good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We liked the aft pool, though it claimed to be for adults only yet kids routinely came in unsupervised and were rough-housing. We wish that had been managed better by the crew.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Decent but we did wish more options remained open later into the night besides just the casino.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The crew were excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Very well-maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our room and really appreciated the upgrade to a veranda suite.

Ship tip

It's really not a good ship for bringing children onboard. Not enough to keep them entertained apparently and is best suited for an older clientele.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
No problems with Port Everglades.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica Did not visit port

We chose to remain on the ship due to reports of aggressive salesmanship at this port.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
We loved Grand Cayman and enjoyed our excursion to tour the Tortuga Rum Cake factory and then visiting the 7 Mile beach.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Cozumel's port was all right, though fairly pushy salesmanship all around. We ventured to Playa Uva but were discouraged from going into the water.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Took our time getting off the ship and carried out all of our own luggage. Disembarked with more than enough time to make our flight. No problems here.
