Review summary

We probably will not do a shoroyal Caribbean cruise again. Our last cruise was a carnival cruise and it was 9 nights we had a spectacular time great excursions and great clear communication throughout the entire ship we were accustomed to that period this was just a quick good way we did meet some nice people but I doubt we'll do this ship again . The staff while friendly rarely had any answers or understood what we needed the weight staff was OK the room Stewart was by far the best. Entertainment was ok..

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Confusing..very little guidance from team

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The chefs table and hooked were not worth the price at all. Especially the chefs table.. the food was bland and only 1 waiter was assigned to 24 people. The food was cold and mediocre. We did attend the chef's table on carnival and it was awesome. Hooks was similar..and the tools provided to Crack the lobster left reside all over my hands and clothes.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
It was cold.. we didn't do activities outside.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was good especially from room stewards. Ours was named Amir. He was great. Service in most areas was good

Ship Quality

5 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was very comfortable

Ship tip

It's old.. the specialty restruants are not worth it. Very little communication is offered especially regarding the key upgrade. You would do best to make friends with someone on the ship that understands how to navigate

Ports of call

Catalina Island, California

4 out of 5
Really not much to do

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Had a good time.. no excursions.. just walked around

Disembarkation

Nothing notable

I wouldn't judge all of Royal Caribbean based on this cruise. This itinerary isn't great, especially in November. This is a "stay onboard" itinerary imho. Hooked is meh, but the other specialty dining is really good. This is an old ship, yes, but some of the newer ships are fantastic. And they have USB ports and more outlets ;)

Thanks for the review. I will say that I’ve been to Hooks Seafood on 2 ships and they are vastly different. I loved it on Oasis, but I didn’t care for it on Wonder. I also get The Key on occasion. And I agree that communication is something that needs work. I’ve gotten it so often now I don’t even ask anymore,I just follow the Key signs! I hope you give Royal a try again in the future tho.
