Review summary

Much needed vacation! This cruise was booked back in 2019 for 2020. 20 got canceled so it was pushed to 21. 21 got canceled so it was pushed to 22. So thankful and blessed to be able to go this year. We purposely did not book excursions as we just wanted to be on the ship and disconnected from everyday life. Overall it was amazing, refreshing, and very relaxing. Sad that it had to come to an end.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Doors opened at 10:30am. Went through wellness check, security and sat in waiting area as the ship didn't open until 11:00am. Onboard at 11:05am. Very fast and smooth. Well done Galveston!!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
It might be hard, but try to eat once at every place you can. It is the only way to know what you like and don't like.

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

Sorrentos....best pizza at sea. Line can get long, but it goes quick. Easy place to just drop by and grab a slice of pizza on your way to wherever you are going.

Windjammer Marketplace

5 out of 5

Windjammer is the Windjammer. Typical buffet and always a good selection to choose from.

Pool Bar

5 out of 5

Best place to get a Mango Lava Flow. Thank you Mark for the suggestion!!

Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

Went to MDR every night and Russell (Head Waiter) was amazing and met us at the front and escorted us to our table every night. Our waiter (Franco) and Assistant Waiter (Angelo) were amazing and made the dining experience enjoyable. We adopted them and they became apart of our family for the week. Do yourself a favor and request these two!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Again...it will be hard, but try to do everything you can. Try something you never dreamed of doing.

Rock Climbing Wall

5 out of 5

Kids had a blast on the Rock Wall

Swimming Pools

5 out of 5

Ha ha....the chair hogs are back! Witnessed someone claim four chairs at 6:00am, leave went to the Windjammer for breakfast, not sure where they went after that, but didn't show up to the pool until 11:00am. Anyways, pools get busy on sea days around 10:00am, but around 4:15pm, people start clearing out. Port days, you get the pools to yourself!

Liberty Dunes

5 out of 5

We had a blast playing mini golf at sea.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was awesome. This was the first time we tried to make it to every show and so glad we did. Two different comedians on the first two nights were awesome. Ice Show was the same as 2019, but different cast and the talent of these people are amazing. Broadway show was same as 2019, (Saturday Night Fever), but different cast and again, the talent is amazing.

Promenade

5 out of 5

Great place to shop, eat, or just sit and hang out. One of the best ways to get from the front if the ship to the back or vice-versa.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Kids did not use the programs as they chose to hang out with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our Room Steward (Jason Robertson), Waiter (Fanco Lemos), Assistant Waiter (Angelo Lazo) were amazing! Had an amazing time getting to know about them, their family, where they were from, what it was like during covid, and what their plans are in the future. We adopted them into our family for the week. As for people saying their ship seemed short staffed....we never noticed that feeling. All staff seemed happy to have us onboard and are thankful that we (the cruisers) are coming back. Out of all of the staff we talked to, 100% of them said they love Galveston and want to stay to be on AllureOTS when it arrives in November. My fingers are crossed that they are able to make the move to AllureOTS as this is an amazing crew that is onboard LibertyOTS right now.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
So LibertyOTS was due for amplification in 2019 but we all know what happen when covid hit....got shut down and she didn't get amplified. She is still a beautiful ship. Yes, there are signs of normal wear and tear, but nothing to make your cruise horrible. Sad to see her leave Galveston in November as we absolutely love her. Just the right size ship...not too big and not too small.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was great for a family of four. Up on Deck 12 forward. Very easy to make it to the back of the ship either along deck 12, walking down to deck 11, of taking elevator down to deck 5.

Ship tip

It is hard to do every single event, but figure out what you really want to do, then just fill in the rest of the time. Reserve ice show tickets once onboard, and show up about 30-45 minutes early for the best seats.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Some people give this port a 1 star and say it looks trashy.....those are the people that fly in, hop on ship, then get off ship and fly home. Take some time either before or after your cruise to explore Galveston. Tons of history in this island!

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
In Cozumel, no excursion, but we got off the ship to walk around the port. Bubba Gump restaurant was closed down and gone (assuming because of covid). Senior Frogs and Margaritaville were still there and going strong! As for the shops, yes there are alot of people that seemed pushy with trying (or begging) you to go into their shop, but you just telling then "No thank you" and keep walking. No biggie. Oh and excited to finally get some Mexican vanilla. I saw where everyone was saying that you have to get some when you go. First time getting some and can't wait to try it out.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
In Grand Cayman- no excursion. GC is a tender port as there is not a pier that can handle the the ships. Still a beautiful place. If you went ashore, due to local laws, you still had to wear a mask while on the tender as well as on land. Just an FYI for anyone that is headed that way anytime soon.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
In Jamaica - no excursion. Got off ship and walked around port. Most people trying to get you to go into their shop, bur again, no biggie, just simply say "No thank you" and keep walking. Still a beautiful port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Ship doors opened at 7:25am, in the gangway at 7:26am got all the way to customs and realized my dumb self left a bag onboard. Told the family to go ahead and I would go back for it. A nice lady told me what to do and we got in contact with Charlotte (didn't get a last name), but she was amazing in getting a description and location. They found the bag, delivered it to the gangway and port staff brought it to me from the gangway. Bag was delivered at 7:51am, made it through customs and was at the car and leaving the port at 8:11am. In total, leaving the bag only added about 15 minutes. Very fast and well organized. Charlotte, if you see this, THANK YOU and you are amazing!!!
