Review summary

This was my first cruise experience with Royal Caribbean and overall it was fun.. I always enjoy cruising..

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation time frame was reasonable. Not too long but not lightening fast as I've heard it is on the newer ships.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
I stuck to the main dining room and the buffet. The food was OK... There wasn't anything that wowed me or that was particularly outstanding. It was mostly up to the normal standard I've had on other cruises. There was one meal where the 2 pork chops on my plate were completely different but neither was very good - 1 was dry and hard, while 1 was undercooked.. Idk.. only small issue... The wait staff in the main dining spoiled us though.. Very good service. The drinks were very good! Best quality I've had on a cruise.. I'm a very light drinker, mainly cocktails so I didn't do any package for me.. Got the Refreshment package for my sons and they had unlimited non-alcoholic drinks which I think worked out because they drink alot...

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My sons enjoyed the activities. Especially the Flow rider and the club..

Entertainment

3 out of 5
OK.. This is where I was not impressed at all.. Navigator is due for an update but the performances were more tired than anything I've seen recently and need updating more than the ship.. I could not help but compare to Epic (which I was on in May)..eg. Ballroom Fever on NOTS was like my granny's ballroom class with one excellent couple while Burn the Floor on Epic has a strong cast and sizzled throughout! I enjoyed the Ice Show and the Las Vegas headliner (he was excellent!). Also because I was on Epic recently I found myself comparing the Cruise Directors in terms of the tone they set and the CD on Epic was ubiquitous and alot more high energy and fun which carried across to the entire entertainment team.

Children's Programs

No children in the programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, excellent, excellent.. From my stateroom attendant Cliffton, to Main Dining Nur and Oleksandr really went above and beyond. Also Daniel who was not our attendant but helped my son get some last minute ironing done.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was clean and well maintained given the ship's age..

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved, loved, loved this cabin. This is an aft balcony for 3 and we had ample space to spread out and watch the ocean go by whenever we wanted some quiet time.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

Been here several times. Did the rum tour this time.. Had a blast.

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
We did the zipline and coaster.. We loved that coaster! We shopped at the village to help out the vendors who we know are struggling. Loved the location overall..

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
I barely had time to have breakfast before we were hustled off. It's possible I missed the note about the cut off time. I had a 10.15am disembark time and we were asked to leave the room at 8.30am so imagine my surprise when breakfast was completely cleared by 8.45am. There was a bit of a line to get off but it kept moving so it was OK in the end..
