Review summary

This was our second cruise; both with Royal Caribbean.  The bar for this cruise was set very high as our Eastern Caribbean trip last year was on the Allure of the Seas, an amazing ship.  This trip started in Galveston Texas where we conveniently parked our car across the street from the cruise port.  The port facilities were okay, but certainly in need of modernization.  We did notice a sign indicating a multi-million dollar upgrade was in the works.

The Navigator of the Seas is in great shape and provided a  memorable cruising experience.   Our balcony stateroom, 6634,  was very similar to what we had on the Allure, except the bed was hard as a rock.  The stateroom attendant did an excellent job of keeping our room in top shape.  Almost stealth like, she swooped in after we would leave for breakfast and completely clean the room.  In the evening she would turn down the bed and create  cute towel creatures.

Most of our evening meals were in the Sapphire dinning room on deck #5.  We took advantage of My Time Dining  which worked great with our excursions and evening plans .   Emanuel and Anthony quickly picked up on our likes and dislikes.  I followed Emanuel's suggestions for most of the evening meals and was never sorry.  The quality of food was excellent.  Two nights we ate at specialty restaurants, Sabor and Giovanni's Table.  Both restaurants provided excellent food at a degree of personal attention that could not be touched  on land for five times the cost.

Taking advantage of the drink packages, we visited most of the bars on the ship and were always pleased with the service and quality of the libations.

The days at sea were spent exploring the ship and, sunning in the Solarium area reserved for the more mature passengers.  We tried to make most of the trivia contests at the Schooner Bar.

We caught most of the entertainment in the Metropolitan Theater.  Always first class acts and performances.  The Ice Dancin' show in Studio B is a must see event. It blew us away; very, very good show.

We shopped at Cozumel, based on what we learned from the Port shopping  meeting in the Metropolitan Theater the day before we were in port, we came away with some real treasures at what seemed like a great price.

In Belize we opted for a trip to the Starfish Island, nothing too outstanding, but fun and relaxing; which was our goal for the day.  Saw the best Elvis impersonator on the island while we ate lunch.

In Roatan we spend the day at the little Maya Key island across the bay from where the ship was docked.  Again our goal was to relax and get some sun, so our expectations were met. Lunch was supposed to be included, but the line was way too long for what was being offered so  we skipped.

Overall, the experience on the Navigator of the Seas was satisfying and a lot of fun.  If you don't mind being surrounded day and night by very proud folks from Texas, this is a great option.

Ship tip

Be cautious of on board "sales". Unless you paid for the wireless package, your phone can't Google the item to see if you are getting ripped off. My experience with on board shopping left a bad taste once I got on land to see what the real price was for the item I purchased and taught me a lesson.
