Great cruise, but a little room for improvement.

Review summary

Our dining room waiters Glenn and Jhonny were amazing! Glenn learned our "good names" and our idiosyncracies so quickly that we never had to ask him for anything it was already done. Overall the food was very good but sometimes just different than we are used to at home. Milton was our cabin attendant and he was amazing! Milton was there when needed and almost invisible other times so you didn't feel rushed or pressured to leave your cabin. The cleanliness of the ship was good and the employees tried their best to keep up with what I would say disrespectful slobby guests. I realize that everyone was on vacation but many guests never returned towels to the towel exchange area and would also leave uneaten food and trash with their many empty drink glasses everywhere. The area of improvement that affected me the most was the age ranges of the activities on board. The teen age range was 12-17 years old. As my 17 year old (2 weeks shy of 18) said "I don't want to hang out with 12 year olds!" Then the many sport related tournaments were for adults 18+. The coordinators of these events actually carded the guests and my 6'5" college age 17 year old son wasn't allowed to play a silly ping pong tournament with his siblings and father. I was told it was a legal issue from corporate and they couldn't have minors playing with adults. My suggestion to them was to have more family oriented tournaments or no age restrictions at all. Since we were a family traveling with 5 older kids (14,17,19.20,21 years old) we made the best of it and made our own mini golf tournaments and the like. We enjoyed the 3 excursions we booked from Royal Caribbean. The Royal Caribbean Excursion desk was great since we had prebooked and prepaid for our excursions they never questioned us when one of our family members fell ill and needed a refund for all 3 excursions. In Cozumel we enjoyed the historical tour of the Mayan ruins (minus the mosquitos!) and in The Grand Caymans the stingray snorkeling was so much fun and not scary at all. The Jamaican excursion was the most organized of all three ports. Yes The Dunn River Falls excursion can be a bit cheesy but I would still recommend it as I loved the rainforrest jungle experience since I am from Phoenix Arizona and don't get to see that kind of beauty.  Overall this was an amazing trip that I enjoyed immensely and would do again next week!

We had 3 in our room, so the Pullman bed was needed. We never felt crowded and the beds and pillows were really comfortable. Milton made it fun to come back to the cabin as we were often surprised by the many towel creations he left for us.

Ship tip

If you want a quieter pool experience go to the Solarium! At the Solarium there is plenty of sun, but shade as well. Also the Solarium is further away from the smoking section of the pool deck.

Yes, that is true. Make sure to read our guide to where people can and cannot smoke on ships: http://cruiseline.com/bonvoyage/before-you-cruise/what-to-know/where-can-people-smoke-on-cruise-ships- For Royal Caribbean,  Allowed: One side of the ship and the casino. Pipes and cigars are only permitted in the cigar lounge and other designated areas. Not Allowed: Cabins including balconies, Boardwalk, Central Park, and all other public spaces.

Well there is still smoking on one side of the pool deck and in the casino. Unfortunately one usually has to pass through these areas to get forward or aft to get to other areas of interest.

Since the re-furbish of the Navigator, we were told that there would be NO SMOKING ANYWHERE ON THE SHIP!
