We loved our cruise. Beautiful ship. Incredible ports. Nice weather- cool but mostly sunny for January. Mid 60s most days. The magic of being in the Mediterranean is a dream come true.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
From being dropped off at the door by our private transportation to stepping on the ship was 15 minutes. Very easy.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The buffet wasn't as large as RC but adequate. With the 2 buffets on 2 floors, it seemed one was usually closed and we were never sure which one was open so it was a lot of back and forth.
We loved Pizza & Burger and would often go for a snack during the day.
The main dining room was nice and we ate there every evening except once when we didn't like the menu. We could see the daily menu on the app. Lobster was never on the menu.
We got take away sushi from the specialty restaurant. Very reasonably priced.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
It was too cold in January to do the pools & water slides. We enjoyed one of the many hot tubs.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We enjoyed some of the shows. The acrobatics were amazing.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff were amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We felt that they were overworked. No one complained but nobody should have to work 12 hours a day, 7 days per week
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Everything was sparkling clean
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our cabin was 12269. Very comfortable. A long walk from the lifts since we were almost at the back of the ship.
Ship tip
Come with an open mind about food. Be prepared to try new things. It might not be what you are used to but it can be good in a new way.
We took a taxi to the Old Port and walked around. Had French pastries, explored several churches and explored St Jean Fort. The fort was beautiful and very interesting. We had a lovely lunch along the street close to the water.
The port is right at the edge of the city. Be sure to be outside to watch coming into port. So beautiful! We did the Hop on Hop Off bus and took the long red route to the other side of the island. We loved driving through the fields, seeing olive trees, seeing the old port with the colorful boats. We stopped at the blue Grotto for a beautiful view of the sea.
It took most of our time to get back to Valetta. We only had about 1 hour to explore the streets of Valetta.
The port is right in the middle of the city. We did the Hop on Hop Off bus and stopped at 2 street markets. So interesting! We loved hearing the audio history on the bus as well.
We scheduled a photo shoot through Smiler in the Gothic Quarters. That was the highlight of our day! We got amazing photos.
We also spent time at the market on La Rambla. That was very interesting and had amazing food.
It was cold & windy so we decided to go the the aquarium. It is within walking distance but with a handicapped spouse we decided to take a taxi instead. Very nice aquarium. A lot to see. We were there around 2 hours. Had a nice lunch in a restaurant nearby.
We spent 2 days in Rome pre cruise. It was amazing! We want to go back. Our favorite was the golf cart tour, where we got to see all the famous places without a lot of walking. My husband is disabled so this was a life saver.
Disembarkation was so easy. We had our luggage with us and just walked off the ship. We had a ride to meet so they told us we don't need to meet at the timed area of the ship.
