Review summary

Our first MSC cruise but we've already booked another one for January! A fantastic experience!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We've cruised numerous times but this was our first experience departing out of Port Canaveral. The cruise terminal was somewhat confusing- after dropping off our luggage, there are not clear signs indicating where to turn into the parking garage. We literally had to make a hard left turn into oncoming traffic to get into the garage. But once we were parked, the check in & boarding process was stellar.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was really lackluster & if you were hungry outside of mealtimes, there weren't any options for quick bites to eat anywhere on ship, unless you want to pay out of pocket. However the main dining room was fantastic & our server Mertayasa in Ipanema, was exceptional.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We're an older couple (late 40s & early 50s) but you can bet your butt we did the waterslide! And it was so much fun! We didn't pay extra for ziplining, bowling or the arcade, but they looked like fun options for kids & adults. My husband used the fitness center daily & was impressed with available equipment options.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We absolutely loved Peter Punk & the comedian was hilarious. We've been on so many cruises before & the comedy shows are not funny, but the headliner was funny & engaging from start to finish. Other onboard musicians were great too.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Waiters in Ipanema were very attentive & had remarkable memories about our dining preferences. It was a nice touch when the manager walked around during the meal to ensure everyone was satisfied with the dining experience. Our room steward was like a ghost- we never saw him but felt his presence in the attention to detail while he maintained our stateroom. He was nonintrusive & we appreciated everything he did to make our stay pleasurable. Overall the staff was great- everyone was friendly, charming & willing to help at any time.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was probably the largest ship we've ever cruised on & it was fantastic. Everything was clean, well-maintained & high tech.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I joke that our room steward was like a ghost- we never saw him but felt his presence in his attention to detail while he maintained our stateroom. He was nonintrusive & we appreciated everything he did to make our stay pleasurable. Our room was clean & comfortable.

Ship tip

Skip the buffet & just head straight to the main dining room. Don't forget to make your reservation for theater shows in advance!
