Review summary

All in all, we had a great time. The ship was amazing as was the island. Aside from the overall food quality we were very happy with our cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very simple and straightforward.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We were disappointed overall with the quality of the food. It wasn't bad, per se, but wasn't as nice as we have experienced on cruises in the past. The second evening, two of my dishes (entree and dessert) had hair in them which was of course very disturbing. I brought it to the attention of the section manager, and he sent us a bottle of champagne and treats to apologize.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We mainly took part in trivia and name that tune types of games. They offered karaoke at night but the venue was so small it was hard to find anywhere to sit.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
All four of the stage shows we attended were excellent.

Children's Programs

We did not have any children eligible to take part in the children's programs.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All staff treated us very well. They were very kind and took time to chat with us if we had questions or needed assistance. We were made to feel like welcome guests.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was amazing. My only complaint was there were many areas on the ship that were hot at times. Also at times, the elevators are *very* slow.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. It was spacious and very clean. We loved having a balcony for the first time on a cruise.

Ship tip

Lower your expectations about the food.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We really enjoyed our time at Ocean Cay. I'd highly recommend renting a cabana. It may seem expensive, but it is worth it because you have a dedicated shady area, 6 beach chairs, towels, two floating mats as well as all the icy water you can drink. If you want a quieter experience, take the time to go to the section of the island called Bimini Beach. It is the furthest away, but worth it for a relaxing time. If you are planning to eat at the main dining area on the island, make sure you go early. We went a little later and they ran out of food. Same for the bars. Later in the day when they run out of supplies, they shut down the bars.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We opted to take advantage of the express disembarkation option and were not disappointed. We were off the ship in less than 30 minutes and did not have to sit around waiting to be called to pick up our luggage.
