Review summary

Very nice get away weekend cruise. MSC often offers great pricing and extras, which is excellent for families with child and value cruisers.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
From the time we arrived at the Port until we boarded the ship approx. 35 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We enjoyed all our meals. Limited choices, but certainly adequate food selection. Shrimp Cocktail (Dinner) and Pizza(Lunch or late night snack) were our favorites. Service was excellent in the MDR. Buffets had less serving staff than other cruiselines. Basically, you self-serve everything including drinks. Glasses were small and no offered soda in the Biscayne Buffet on deck 16. You had to exit and go to the Pool Bar for anything other than water, tea or lemonade, again all self-serve. Did not go to any of the speciality dinning.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The two main pools were very busy on Sea days. The Pool area on deck 16 was a bit hectic and loud. Jungle pool on deck 18, is all shaded and bit humid, even by Florida standards. there is plenty of family type activities on board.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the shows. not all the glitz of some of the other cruiselines, but the exceptional talent more than makes up for that Michael Jackson Tribute was exceptional. Peter Punk was excellent, don;t let the name fool you. Surprisingly excellent variety production show, Magic, Acrobats, Juggling, singing and dancing. Very enjoyable. Moondance, more mellow but the song selections and singers were excellent.

Children's Programs

We do not have children

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Nadhi, our cabin steward was delightful and took excellent care of us. Ship personnel were smiling, helpful and friendly . Could be a tad hectic at some bars, due the number of people wanting to order.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship has an interesting feature at the elevators, where you enter your desired floor, and then system directs you to a specific elevator. you floor is automatically entered when got on. Ship is sleek and modernistic in styling, very very clean. Plenty of restrooms, also well maintained. there was not always a staff member at the buffets to encourage hand washing. could have had more hand sanitizing throughout the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was very clean. Also you need to have a room seapass card in a special slot for the lights to work. Two unusal things to mention... Had to ask for wash cloths and then was no Top sheet on the bed on the duvet cover. Closet area is bit small. Would have liked a shelf in the closet and another drawer. Mini-Fridge was the coolest of any of the three other ships we sailed on this past year.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Nice beaches. We are local and don't do excurisions in Coco.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

4 out of 5
MSC is still developing Ocean Cay. Could have used more chaise lounges at the first beach, but we choose South Beach and had to problem finding chaises and shade. Had to rent beach umbellas. That could be improved on. Like just have plenty already out and complimentary. Bars were busy and could have used another staff member or two.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and swift
