Review summary

If you have cruised with other cruise lines then you will probably be disappointed in this cruise line. MSC does not compare to the others. They are going to have to double their cruise staff in order to compete.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was a piece of cake. Essential walked on the ship!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Main dining room was severely understaffed. We felt sorry for the waiters. They could not get all of parties (we had 7) out at the same time. Sometimes at least two of us in our party would have to wait 10-15 minutes after the rest of our party getting our food. You could not get water to save your life. They brought out a one liter bottle of water, which was warm for our whole table. We had 7 people. We each got a half of glass. We had to beg for more water. Food was good once you got it.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not a lot of planned activities compared to other shiplines.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were all wonderful.

Children's Programs

Did not have kids in our party.

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Clearly understaffed. Never saw anyone around the ship interacting with passengers. Our waiter was excellent but wasn’t able to do his job well due to too many tables to wait. Room steward did well but you had to ask everyday for ice and still may not get it. Two others in our group never could get wash clothes in their cabins.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is absolutely beautiful!! Did not like that the back of ship on most floors were a designated smoking area so if you did not smoke it was hard to enjoy looking off the back of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was a balcony cabin. Large cabin with a sofa. Good size balcony with two chairs and one ottoman. Bathroom is small but typical for a cruise ship.

Ship tip

Don’t expect great service especially if you have sailed with other cruise lines. There is no comparison. Get to the dining room at least 15 minutes before your assigned time or you will be waiting a while.

Disembarkation

I wish I could give it zero star. Horrible. Very unorganized and took us 1 1/2 hours to disembark. We have never had this before and we have cruised 30 plus times. Staff was not helpful or even bothered by it. You had to go to a certain floor and then go across the ship only to have to carry your luggage down a flight of stairs. It was a completed disaster.
