Review summary

Our first MSC cruise, compared to many NCL cruises. We enjoyed ourselves but really didn't get to experience all she had to offer as we had our grandkids with us so early bedtimes and no nightlife. Also the weather was poor. I look forward to trying MSC again. Because of Milton there was a ton of rain and rocky waves which did alter the experience. I felt the Captain did his best to keep us informed but many other guests did not feel the same. We booked two connecting cabins which worked out great, our room steward opened the balcony dividers for us. Our cabin 14199 had a tub, theirs had a shower. Elevators, super easy if you do it the right way and everyone else does too! You pick the deck you want, push it for each person in your party then it tells you which elevator to take as it will know how many people are waiting for it. Those who didn't hit the deck # for as many people in their party then messed it up for everyone else.

Embarkation

For me it was fast and friendly but our son who is a JR and his son who is the Third had a hard time, MSC struggled to get them checked in. Took almost 45 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
For the most part all food was good, hot and fresh. But not excellent. Kids enjoyed the kids buffet but it wasn't monitored so kids were touching food and picking up food and putting it back on the buffet. But where were the parents, it's really their responsibility to monitor their kids

Marketplace Buffet

4 out of 5

Always a lot of options but strange things like only one omlette station, kids buffet was a great idea but parents let kids go up alone and they were touching food and putting back, no one stopping them

Tribeca Restaurant

4 out of 5

Our team tried hard but struggled with language barriers and understanding things like having the appetizer as the meal. PLus milk for kids delivered in tall glass glasses with no lids or straws

Kaito Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

Great show and our cooked tried really hard to make our grumpy 3 year old smile and he was successful!

HOLA! Tacos & Cantina

5 out of 5

Amazing food and cheap! $2.59 a taco! Great service also, gave kids coloring sheets and crayons!

Brooklyn Cafe

4 out of 5

We enjoyed hanging out here, having cappuccinos but the service was very slow

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Kids loved the kids pool, but were too small for the slides. The jungle pool was strange, very deep so most people couldn't ouch the bottom. Seemed like a waste as very few people used this pool

Thermal Area

3 out of 5

With our package we had one hour of time here, only 3 heated loungers one of which was broken, half of the hot tub did not work and the ceiling was leaking in several spots. Very small thermal area. Disappointing

Pirates Cove Aquapark

5 out of 5

Little kids loved it here but too many big kids not being kept under control

Jungle Pool

5 out of 5

The kids had a blast hear but I do feel too many "big" kids were allowed to rough house and not be stopped by staff

Entertainment

4 out of 5
only saw the magician and he was very good

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
A few outstanding crew, Lorraine at the spa front desk was so helpful with making, and changing reservations and she remembered me each time! Sady, our wine steward at Tribeca recognized me the next morning at the buffet and always searched us out to say good morning to us! But bar service was slow, rude and non existent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Had no problems with the layout, or the elevators except when people pushed buttons and gave up and left. I read reviews about no public bathrooms but we found plenty of them. Everything was clean the entire cruise except pool area bathrooms

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
great layout, bed near balcony door, bathtub in small bathroom. tons of drawers and storage places. Did hear lots of creaking and furniture noise but it was Milton and a very rocky cruise

Ship tip

Give them a try, this is our first MSC and we loved it and will do it again

Ports of call

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
even thou it rained all day we loved it and had a great time

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
New port is nice but NO SECURITY at all, gates wide open and no one checking cruise cards. So lots of people hawking you to take their tours

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
being our first MSC cruise we felt there was no communication on how the process would work, where our meeting point was. But to their defense Milton delayed our return by a full day and did not dock till noon so things were crazy with annoyed people wanting off. Chill guys, it wasn't MSC fault they were delayed!
