Review summary

Overall, a nice experience. Their website is a disaster. The app only works on board, so not really an alternative. The guests often can't figure out the elevators. And Yacht Club basically obliterates the traditional one-class model of cruising. But the ship is nice, it was a great deal, and a few inconveniences didn't ruin it. I'd definitely sail MSC again, if the opportunity arises.

Embarkation

A mess. They were running late. Very long lines in hot sun. Nobody seemed to be checking boarding group schedules. Not enough screeners to open all lanes, and not enough lanes for a ship this size. Past this bottleneck, it went smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDR: Better than expected. Ate there twice (dinner), good both times. Buffet was good for lunch. Could use a little more variety at the salad bar. 2 specialty meals: Butcher's Cut and Kaito. Butcher's cut was quite good. The overcooked my steak, but quickly and cheerfully replaced it, so no harm done. Kaito was a teppan meal, and I understand it's a show, but the noise level in the room, the endless banging on the grill, and the constant singing by the chef got to be a little much.

Onboard Activities

Pools, slides, hot tubs, all I used were pretty nice.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Main theater show would have been better with live music. Some of the smaller groups were good. Comedian was just OK.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I thought everyone was quite nice.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
My biggest complaint is design. No forward facing area unless you were in Yacht Club. No deck that could be used for walking laps all the way around. It's only a couple of years old, so excellent condition.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
All good. Needed a little maintenance that took a couple of days to get done, but nothing serious. AC worked better than most ships I've been on.

Ports of call

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

It's a work in progress. They need to do a little better on food.

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau is Nassau. Been there a lot.

Disembarkation

Very efficient
