Review summary

Below average yacht club experience compared to other MSC ships. Agree with some of the posts about poor service and disappointing food

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Always a breeze getting on ship with the YC. You pass by hundreds waiting in line and are on the ship within 15-20 minutes of arrival escorted by butlers to the top sail lounge. We arrived at 11am to terminal 10 in port Canaveral and were having lunch on the YC restaurant at 11:30am. 4th YC cruise and embarkation has always been exceptional

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
As other reviewers have mentioned, food quality has never been MSC’s strong area. We primarily ate in the YC restaurant which was adequate. We had dinner at one specialty restaurant- the sushi restaurant with the conveyor belt of sushi that was decent and fun. Visited the MDR and buffet but didn’t eat and retreated to our “bubble” within the YC. Wine selections weak ship wide. Snacks and beverages within YC areas were good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Visited spa, gym, game rooms and pools. All decent and not too crowded even with a full ship. Mostly stayed in YC area with its own pool and hot tubs which were never busy and we were usually the only ones in them no matter what time of day.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Main theater shows were ok, mostly tribute music type shows. Magic show was a bit of a disappointment, he had to beg for applause, lol. YC top sail lounge had nightly live music which we enjoyed each night.

Service and Staff

Seashore YC club is not as good as the other 3 MSC ships we have been on - Divina, Meraviglia, and Seaside. Only saw Butler once. Never met head waiter or YC director as like other ships we’ve been on. Crew seems disengaged compared to the other MSC ships.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Newer ship, very clean. Only complaint is the elevator system seems to be a complete disaster on this ship compared to other MSC ships. You selected the floor prior to entering the elevator. YC guests have “override” privlages when scanning your card but seldom worked. 15 minute elevator wait times were standard. Although prob the norm with 5k guests on a ship. YC area had its own elevator for floors 16-20 which was nice

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Standard YC balcony on the Port side - odd numbered cabins. We prefer balcony even numbered cabins starboard better when visiting ocean cay since you have a view of the lighthouse and lighthouse night show if you stay overnight.

Ship tip

I believe the main reason the Seashore YC experience is sub par to other MSC ships is the fact that the Seashore YC has 20% more YC cabins than on similar MSC class ships- ie. seaside, seascape with the same staffing and YC areas. Divina and Meragvilia also have a much smaller number of YC cabins and the service seems to be better. I think after 3 other MSC yacht club experiences, we will be a bit more selective about the next ship. YC is still the best value in all of ship within ship concept as compared to other large cruise lines and it would be difficult to sail on MSC without it especially considering it is not significantly more expensive than a non YC balcony when you add in the included drink package and internet. The non YC parts of the ship were extremely crowded and we heard many complaints about service.
