Review summary

We booked this cruise because of Ocean Cay. MSC is closing the island for “repairs” or “remodeling” and we wanted one last trip before they did. Hands down my favorite stop.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarking was as expected from a previous cruise we took at that port. It seems like the process could be more refined to eliminate the crowds. Announcements over the speakers are hard to hear and that added to some of the confusion, outside of that it wasn’t the worst nor the best experience boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Everything complimentary met or exceeded my expectations. I’ve read a lot of reviews about the food being horrible and I can’t for the life of me figure out what they’re comparing it to. I rated 4 stars because the desserts didn’t seem top notch like the last MSC cruise we were on.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We didn’t do much onboard, this trip was more for relaxation and we achieved that.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was excellent. Dining staff was awesome, a small language barrier may have slowed things a little but the kindness more than made up for it. Our room steward was on top of his game and made our cruise even better. Crew around the ship always went out of their way to say hello, good morning, good evening etc… they actually took time to have small conversations to make sure your day was going well.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
MSC ships are not my favorite, navigating the ship’s decks are a little confusing and uninviting. Almost like you’re in the wrong area sometimes or hit a dead end corridor out of nowhere. We kinda stayed where we were familiar and had no problems but that makes it feel like you’re missing out on things.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We had a deluxe balcony, the room size/layout were great. The bathroom is a bit on the tiny side, more so the shower. As mentioned before our room steward was fantastic and kept our room spotless the whole cruise.

Ship tip

This will be the second time giving this same advice for a MSC ship, learn the ship’s layout so you’re not missing out on anything. Oh… also, have fun!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We were delayed due to a storm returning to port. No fault to MSC because passenger safety was first and foremost without question. I’ve seen crowds not directed properly in the past and with our late arrival and double the amount of passengers at the port it was seemingly smooth.
