Review summary

The MSC Seascape 7-day Eastern Carribean cruise (no stop in bahamas) was a great value for the money allowing us to afford a much higher level room than on other ships with similar destinations! We LOVED sitting out on our balcony for a more private experience than the public decks.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was very orderly. We did not have to wait in any long lines.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet was not appealing. Many food items (meats in particular) were of very low quality and there were many unsanitary practices from guests such as using fingers to pick up items, placing drinking edge of personal containers on spout while refilling personal water bottles, etc. and some staff were not wearing gloves while preparing food. The food and experience in the complimentary restaurants was much better.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was plenty to do for people of all ages, pools of course, but also ping-pong and board games, arts and crafts (we made t-shirts), ballroom dancing, and master chef competition, just to name a few.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Some show themes were a bit cheesy, but the entertainers were very talented and included singer, dancers, and contortionists.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Reading other reviews caused me to anticipate not so friendly staff, but that was not my experience at all. Everyone we encountered was friendly and most were very helpful! Our cabin attendant and waiters were very delightful!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship felt very classy, especially the main atrium area.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our cabin had a few stains in the carpet and countertops that made it feel a little less clean, but overall it was a nice room and comfortable enough for 2 people.

Ship tip

The pricing fluctuated quite a bit for our cruise. It actually seemed to go down quite significantly very close to the sailing date. If you have time, watch the prices for a while before booking. If you see a really low price, chances are it will come back again if you decide to wait to see if the prices go even lower.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
We had time to ride the free trolley through the city which was nice, but also took us through a few less than desirable areas at times.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We went to Ocean World to play with animals. This excursion is nice and we got some great pictures, but it is too long to allow you to really see the city before or afterwards.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We did the mojito and mofongo excursion and loved it! Great balance of city tour and delicious authentic food!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
Beautiful city! We were able to walk the city and see beautiful beaches on our snorkeling excursion.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very orderly and timely. Took less than 30 minutes to get off the ship, despite the extremely long lines.
