Review summary

It is a beautiful ship, with nice accomodations and good destinations. But the service is not good: many staff members can’t keep up, are rude or clueless. For that reason I don’t think I would go on another trip with this cruiseline.

Embarkation

Embarkation went smoothly. They give you check in time but don’t really verify it

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was decent in main dining rooms, but buffet was always so packed that it was hard to get anything and they would run out of items all the time

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Few activities and not much variety. Gym facilities are really good. But the pools are small and always too crowded

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Disco party was entertaining

Service and Staff

Here is where I will point out the reasons why the MSC cruise disappointed me. I have been in other 6 cruise trips before this one and never saw some of the things that happened on this family vacation. It was my first MSC cruise, and it was also the first time on a cruise for most of the members of my party. That made it particularly frustrating because we were celebrating a special occasion and we wanted the whole family to have a great experience. Five minutes after arriving into the ship my sister and me noticed something right away. We had to wait, and wait, wait some more, and then almost chase the person behind the bar to help us with some drinks. We just got here is what we thought. Little we knew it was gonna be like that for a whole week and everywhere we went in the ship. At the pool bars, at the lounge bars, at the restaurants, at the shops, everywhere we went we felt like we had to search for, chase, ask repeatedly or wait for a very long time before someone could actually help us. It could be to order a drink, to ask for directions or even to find out how to get out of the ship. Employees were too busy, not paying attention, seemed to be in a bad mood or were just too confused themselves to help us out. One time they actually made us walk around the ship for 10 minutes because the 3 or 4 employees we asked about how to get out to go to the port of call kept giving us wrong information. The worst experience, however, had to be with the xxxxxxx manager Marcos Díaz. We approached him hoping he could tell us where to find a machine to put money on our cabin card keys. At first he ignored us even though my sister tried to get his attention from less than 2 feet distance. When he finally stopped watching the cruise live show to look at us, he rolled his eyes and asked with an annoyed face what did we want. We really did bother him by just trying to get some orientation. The buffet experience wasn’t pleasant at all. It was too crowded all the time, to the point it was extremely difficult to find a table, see the food available or even actually getting something to eat because they were running out of items all the time. There was one day that I actually had to forget what I wanted and just grabbed whatever I could find because the lines were impossible and the food was going fast. I really couldn’t believe I paid thousands of dollars to live something like that. On the way back to the cruiseship from one of the destinations, we had to board a small boat. Put together too many people, too few boats, and what you get is hundreds of people waiting for hours under a tent in a 95 degrees heat without even some water to avoid dehydration. Not my idea of a vacation. The MSC Seascape is actually a very nice cruise, with good accommodations, and the food we were able to enjoy was decent. But the bad service, or lack of service, was a sad and disappointing surprise. Absolute nothing to do with my previous experiences in other cruises, that are supposed to be rated in the same level in terms of quality and costs.

Express check out worked out good for me. If you want your bags taken it’s a long wait until you can get out of the ship
