Review summary

Worst Cruise experience ever. Will never cruise with MSC again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
MSC and me app showed excursions as not yet available until you board the ship then it shows all excursions sold out. This is only the first of many problems experienced during this cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Extremely difficult to find seating at the buffet and the food was many times undercooked or unavailable. The dining room food was mediocre at best and in two cases I had to reject the entrée very very disappointing. This was totally unlike any other cruise. I’ve experienced where the food was generally above average, and never a problem

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

Purchase two premium shows in advance, but were shut out at the door because “we were not registered”. Was told that we had to register at mid ship deck five however this was not mentioned anywhere prior to Showtime. After some discussion we were allowed in and I was shocked to see only 12 people in the entire 200+ seat venue. the main theater is not large enough to accommodate all passengers and two shows therefore many passengers were shut out because they weren’t “registered” for the shows.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Service from waiters room stewards no problem but customer service at the desk. We’re not very helpful.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Beautiful ship clean and well-maintained. However, the crew to passenger ratio is not sufficient to provide or above service.

Ship tip

Don’t rely on the MSC and me app. Be sure to book your excursions outside of the app. Do not expect average or above quality food. Make sure you register for all shows in advance. Otherwise you will get shut out.

Ports of call

Sydney, Nova Scotia

We spent an extra unscheduled day at this port due to weather. As a result, our last two ports were canceled and we spent an extra day at Sea heading back just to stretch the time. Has nothing to offer and was a wasted stop in my opinion.

Saint John, New Brunswick

This port was also canceled due to weather as a result. We spent an extra day in Sydney Nova Scotia and an extra day at Sea. The only compensation was $26. The crew staff provided no assistance with canceling excursions booked through a third-party.

This Port was canceled due to weather. The crew staff would not accommodate me to cancel. Excursions scheduled through a third-party. I had to spend 3+ hours getting off the ship in Sydney so as to use public Wi-Fi to cancel my excursions. and we spent an extra day at Sydney Nova Scotia as well as an extra day at sea. Very disappointing.

Disembarkation

The last two ports of the cruise were canceled and we spent an unscheduled extra day at one port and an extra stay at sea to stretch the time. We received $26 compensation for the two missed ports which happened to be the highlight of the Cruise. The first Port on the itinerary required tender to Port. Unbelievably the night before we received a notice in our cabin stating that we needed to report to the theater at 6 AM to pick up Tinder tickets. My thought was are they crazy? We are on vacation. We don’t want to get up at 6 AM, if you’re able to deliver the notice, why don’t you deliver the Tinder tickets to our cabin? This was one of many issues I will never ever ever cruise with MSC again.
