Review summary

This cruise was rerouted because of the storm, which is very understandable. My issue is that MSC communicated the itinerary change late on Friday evening. Given that storms do not appear overnight, I would have appreciated a several day in advance notice as more of a courtesy as I am sure the company would have been tracking this weather event. I still had a great time with the new itinerary. I do believe more entertainment is needed & the cruise director should be more visible. On other lines there is so much more to do and the CDs are always out and about engaging with us. Many people like all the fluff cakes and tarts offered in buffet, but many of us also would just like a chocolate chip cookie or a brownie every now and again as well. So, maybe just offering something simple would be great. Overall, it was a nice time, and I am glad the ship is still in good shape and just as beautiful.

I am still perplexed on the purpose of the mobile check-in, if passengers must still then go through the whole process again at the terminal.

There is not much to do like Royal or Carnival, but we did enjoy the musicians a lot.

It was great that Jonathan remembered us from our previous sailing this year. I am also glad he recommended attending the Wine Tasting, which I thoroughly enjoyed and met additional great guests. Rajiv from the Infinity bar, was excellent the whole time. Jane our room steward was a delight to chat with everyday. Dean in the Champagne bar made excellent suggestions and I believe I will be more open to exploring the world of champagnes.

Cabin / Stateroom

Mid-ship balcony. There are no USB ports for charging by the bedside. Great location b/c it's near the panoramic elevator, so no long elevator wait times to get anywhere. It seems a lot of ppl thought it would take you to a special area only for yacht club.

Disembarkation

I have never disembarked from a ship so quickly. It was great!

Great review. Glad you still managed to have a good time overall. To your point, the mobile check-in is efficient & super speedy. All I did was show the digital pass QR code at the check-in desk & done. Literally, 5 minutes! The check-in Teller didn’t even request my health questionnaire, but yet took my digital picture again (‼️) However, it took the usual long line(s) to get there. Don’t understand the disconnect. The mobile check-in is one of the most efficient tools available, but here they’re not maximizing that efficiency. About the Cruise Director: never present. Except when introducing the Broadway Theater shows. And never to be seen again. Thanks for sharing & Happy Cruising 🤩⚓️😎❣️‼️

Thanks for your feedback. Even if you check in on a hotel online, they generally make you go to the front desk anyway especially internationally to check-in and sign papers and check your passport.

Glad you were still able to enjoy your cruise despite the itinerary change. I assume they notified people as soon as they made the decision to change itinerary. Yes they were aware of a storm for days before that but if they made the decision to change too early and the storm turned out to be not that bad, just think of the criticism they would have gotten. … I assume they ask us to upload documents etc ahead of time just to force people to verify they have the documents. If people are allowed to procrastinate they will until it is too late to replace missing documents.

Fun fact about the lack of ATMs on MSc Meraviglia...I did not notice if there were any or not, however they will advance you money on your linked credit card at the casino with no fees. You can then cash in your chips without actually playing and not only is it essentially a free ATM withdrawal, but you should also get paid any cash/points/miles your card pays.
