Review summary

We won our upgrade bid to yacht club and won't go back to regular cruising!!! Food was ok from the buffet and regular dining, they make it for 3500 plus people so you can't expect exceptional food.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
MSC Yacht club. Nothing else needs to be said!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Waves dinning was ok. Most meals were in Yacht club and they were great.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Bingo was extremely slow going. Casino was tight fisted. Sky lounge was nice for playing cards. Thermal spa was nice.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I liked all the shows we watched. Good dancers, singers and musicians.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Yacht club staff was AWESOME, both Meri our butler and Josue room steward all the way to YC buffet, dinning room host and bar keeper.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
We had 2 other parties not in the YC. The hallways of deck 9 and 11 had a funky odor. The Marketplace buffet on 15 always smelled like fish. Overall the ship was clean. The cabin numbering system is a little tricky and the hallways.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very clean and spacious. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was awesome.

Ship tip

The port side of the ship deck 15 by pool is smoking area.

Ports of call

Brooklyn, New York

3 out of 5
Heavy traffic. If you can, get dropped off just outside the gate and walk the 5 minutes to the terminal.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Our butler Meri fast tracked us off the ship. We walked outside the gate area and ordered an Uber/Lyft.

Traveler Photos

Port pilot transportation to the ship YC sundeck early morning. Top sail lounge embarkation day.

@GinaMarieB I think the only hidden charges on the Yacht Club now is for "certain" Mini-Bar snacks AFTER your complimentary ones are used up. They used to give you ALL of them free and refilled them as many times as you like. But since passengers were stockpiling them and taking them home, I believe now they only allow the first Toberlone Chocolate Bar FREE, and everything else (snacks, sodas and liquor) is unlimited without additional charges. There's no other additional charges, so when deciding on booking the yacht club take into consideration that basically EVERYTHING is included and usually you still get an onboard credit attached to your booking. Many people book an interior yacht club cabin, and receive a free upgrade right before sailing. Even if they don't, those cabins are right down the hallway from the venues where you can spend most of your time on the ship. Or those people who book balcony rooms receive an invitation to pay for an upgrade. But you need to know the pricing to determine if a paid upgrade is worth it, as you may receive several offers on the high end and then on the low end.

What types of hidden charges did you encounter?

While the Yacht Club and equivalents on other cruiselines sound great, most of us can’t afford them or would rather do 2 or 3 ‘standard’ cruises instead for the same price, and in all honesty you should still be able to expect a good cruise without them. Buffet is for the masses and I never expect much, MDR should be decent though, and speciality should feel like it’s worth paying for. Fair play to those who can afford to pay and choose to pay for Yacht Club etc though, looks great!

@javawoody Do a Google search. It's a different part of the ship. It's like cruising FIRST CLASS. You have a separate dining area, separate lounge, separate pool, butler escorts you everywhere, unlimited room service, includes premium drinks, WiFi, and so much more. The suites are only on the top decks that are secured along with a secured elevator. Whenever you get off at a port, there's priority disembarkation and a club car to exit.

Anybody booking this ship, ONLY book the Yacht Club or you will be hating life if you are a seasoned cruiser. If you don't know any better then any ship/category would be fine. The Yacht club will have BETTER everything, including top notch staff.
