Review summary

The check in process online was a nightmare. I tried multiple times over the course of several weeks to complete credit card info, take a check in photo and load other details like passport info and it just never worked. Very frustrating.

Embarkation

Line moved quickly but when we got to the check-in they informed us they changed our cabins (that made it a total of 3 times from when I booked). They didn't realize we had two cabins that needed to be next to each other so she worked at reassigning the rooms. Took quite some time to get it done, but everything worked out in the end.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent service at all dining areas. Eduardo and Yogi were very attentive during dinner!

Onboard Activities

Disappointed that the courts for tennis were closed during the day. My husband and son were really excited to play. We were told it was because of covid, but then every night we saw kids club activities being held there. That was a little perplexing. Wish there was more shaded lounge chairs available by the pool. The only place to get away from the sun was to sit with the smokers. Nice gym.

Entertainment

Great shows and performers!

Service and Staff

Very helpful and attentive. Always greeted with a good morning, good afternoon and have a good day/night. Just all around lovely people.

Cabin / Stateroom

Loved the little towel creatures that our steward had hiding around the cabin every night during turn down service. Very fun for the kids to see what shenanigans they got up to.

Ship tip

Don't consume the drinks they display with the little towel creatures (during turn down service). They are actually from the minibar. My husband thought the Corona was complimentary, but then it showed up on our bill the next day. Very sneaky I thought.

Disappointed that the umbrellas weren't free. When I returned them at the end of the first day, they said you could've just left them there for one of us to pick up. But then someone else would've used them and avoided paying. I'm not paying for someone else to use the umbrellas I paid for. Either assign them to the cabins and require they be returned at the end of the day or better yet...just make them free. I saw plenty of people coming to the beach later in the day and using the umbrellas that others had paid for and left. They should just be free. Also was hoping for more little shops.

We did a walking tour through cruises.com and the starting time was very confusing. It said 30 mins after ship arrives which was around 930am. Ended up waiting over 2 hours for it to start as the guides were waiting on another cruise ship to disembark.

I wonder how much of her issues were due to World Travel Holdings and how much due to the ship? Since WTH apparently buys(?) up blocks of rooms (I saw no rooms available on Carnival’s website where I wanted, but WTH had half that deck available), it would explain some strange room swaps I have read about and experienced.

Glad you enjoyed most of it. I was on Meraviglia in January and loved it. The website / pre/cruise is an issue, but once onboard it is great.
